Anyone know of any still going or soon to come up on vacancies pages? Applied for TfL but didn't get in, and have had a look at the Transport Planning Society's web pages, but not much on offer there. Willing to move around if needed, and can probably find accomodation in most big cities.

Is there any particular branch of TP you're thinking of? The big consultancies are still suffering in the recession, and given the number of public contracts they have they're terrified of what might be in store after the election. They are still taking on a small number of graduates, but only if they've got a good degree in a very relevant subject - preferably at Masters level.

My advice is to find a small project they're working on, apply for it, and work as hard as you can so you're noticed by the right people. Things will keep coming up, and hopefully eventually somewhere. It's worked for me over the past year, though for other reasons I've moved away from it in the last couple of months.

Anything really for this summer, just for experience. I have a few jobs lined up to apply for after I graduate next year with several companies, and if that fails I'll do a Masters. Seems like this year is harder than last year for finding placements.

Definitely, though last year wasn't exactly easy either. I'd say find a job rather than a placement - it pays better and is (imo) better experience. Also if you're considering a Masters and can afford to definitely do it - it puts you miles ahead of those without one and opens many more doors, as I've discovered.

I probably can get a job easily enough, worked for one company for over 3 years and they seem to be wanting people this summer again. Would have preferred another few months of something different to put on the CV, but will just take what's there.

If I can get onto a graduate employment programme next year that would be great, but if not I'll just do the Masters and get a part time job to pay for it.
