Maybe an odd question: but why is TfW hiring a lot of trainees at the moment (or at least, getting people into talent pools) - is it just a matter of timing: such as lots retiring/leaving or an expansion of services/frequency that requires new drivers?
Drivers coming to the end of career & I guess it’s to ready for Sundays coming inside the working week. Think they may be after 120+ drivers at Chester in total

There is a dials test someone did on here that's really good. As close as it can be to the real one

Still not had a response about testing, guess I'll just go to the assessment and speak to them there! Good luck anyone else with there's today.

Edit: turns out TfW only accept test results for 2 years, so mine are valid for them hence the invite to test again.

Do you know if TFW are enhanced or standard pass?

Did the paper assessment today at Chester... I really hope I don't have to do that again for sure lol

Apparently should hear how I did next week, fingers crossed

Given that would more than double the current headcount at Chester, that might be optimistic. It's a big depot - but not that big!

Me too, and I kicked myself over an answer in the tones and directory part. I marked one as correct then crossed it out. It was correct and I did it in pen so it was tough lol.
I haven’t got high hopes over this but it was good experience.

Good luck! Fingers crossed for you. Do you mind me asking if youve found a good example of what the tones are like, an example online maybe that you thought was pretty accurate to the assessment you did today? Im practising all the other psych stuff but wasnt sure about this part as the few different examples Ive heard online seem to all be totally different.

Thanks

Just imagine a high and a low tone, they're distinctly different when you're there an when you're doing the 2-part section it's only a single tone

Can I ask how many candidates were in the room?
Think there was around 16 in there today, which I think is the max they do. Far less than what OPC have in Birmingham!

Thank you! I hadn’t found any examples online at all so today was all new to me. The tones are very different, it’s just about concentrating between the two.

Yeah I think sometimes people expect it to be either really fast or hard to distinguish. Or expect the 2 tones in the symbol circling part which would be somewhat harder. Using your fingers under the table is always a good strategy I find

Ive never done the assessments so not sure what to expect thats all. Ive had a bit of practise with the other parts but this is the only part I wasnt sure about because one example online was very slow, definitely too easy and the other was insanely fast! Wasnt sure if anyone managed to find an example thats similar to the real thing. Thankyou for this info, its all useful, Ill take note of counting underneath the table too

Just don’t panic on any of them. I think this test will be my downfall personally and I omitted loads, but just keep your cool and you’ll be fine. Good Luck

Hey, if you were in the morning assessment, we have probably seen each other without realising it :)

I don't have high hopes to be honest, feel like I didn't do very well...

As for the tones test, yeah, nothing like I expected - not really sure why the tones are described as "high" and "low" tones, they both sounded quite high pitched to me, just a different sound. The real test plays them surprisingly fast as well, and it feels like it tries to trip you up by playing a repeating pattern before breaking the pattern. It was pretty hard to keep track of, I'm sure I messed up on one or two of them.

Luckily, in the directory search and tone test, they just play one tone, which makes it a bit easier.

Yes I was there in the morning so we probably did!
For those who do get through, it will be a quick turnaround to getting their results and then computer tests won’t it?

Has anyone heard back that has applied for the posting at Crewe? I applied on 22nd Sept and not heard anything....
Yes I did, applied on the 20th and did testing yesterday. You may be in the next lot depending on dates as our session was full.

Edit: confirmed attendance within 9 minutes and email back to say it’s full and to wait for another date. Clearly you have to be as quick as the initial application!!

Worth noting that there will be later dates for the computer assessment and paper tests as well (for those who didn't get in on the 5th/6th) - they're processing through a lot of people it seems.

Got a message this morning about booking into assesment centre for Cardiff, within the hour I got an email saying it was full. Crazy. Is this one of the reaction tests?
