Mainline. I said either was OK as I didn't have a preference. I live just outside Newport so all quite close

You shouldn’t have any dramas with it

Colour perception
Hearing booth - slightly different to the police test though.
ECG
Urine test
Job done
I’m 50+ And always had a high BMI
Wear specs now as I’ve got older
All was good

You'll be fine, it's just eyesight, hearing, blood pressure and urine checks..all pretty standard.

Well done all. I got the call aswell. Although now I'm worried as my bmi is high. I did the NHS checker and it's bordering 40. I don't have any health issues and haven't been to the Dr in a long time. Feeling now applying was a waste of everyone's time
I’ve always been large with a higher BMI - Mid 30s
Joined the Military and the Police with out issue
Don’t worry and go for the medical
I think it will only be an issue if it affects mobility or you have High BP
The Clinician on the day will cover it all with you.
If something does come up on the day it may not be a fail
You may be referred to your GP etc

For a different company I had to do all the above plus some balance tests as he said ‘you may have to walk on the ballast’! Also, hamstring stretches to touch toes and some visual and motor skills (?) type tests where I had to react to things that the testers were doing. Probably a bad description but not sure everyone had to do other tests too. I wasnt too phased by it, HR was up to 53 when he tested it
Same here. Though I applied back in 2020 haha.
All being well with the background checks, can't imagine that'll be an issue though, I'll be starting 5th of September.
All the info from pertemps and my contract are being sent to me this week apparently.

I'm 5th of September as well, valley lines though, not sure that'll make a difference at the start.

I wouldn't worry about it, if you have no health issues and pass all the other tests they do on you. I reckon you'll be alright. The clinician told me she's had someone in before who sent the scale way towards its limits and they were given a cleanish bill of health...cleared for duty anyway.
Congratulations all that have passed. I have my DMI on Thursday for the Cardiff depot. I have been through the process with the other Dan so far and they asked him whether he would prefer Mainline or Valley lines. Does anybody know the pros and cons of each one?

My stepdad is a driver, now drives for freightliner, I asked him about it and all he said was that mainline is a bit more interesting. I assume because you go further than Merthyr? Haha.

My next issue if I get the job is that as a teacher I have to give an academic half terms notice. If I want to leave at the end of October I have to hand my notice in before July 22nd otherwise I have to stay until December.
Let's just pass the DMI first though

I was happy doing either, but seeing as I live 10 minutes away from where the new depot will be in Taffswell, makes sense to go for valleys.
As long as they know about the notice period you have to give, I doubt it would be a problem, obviously would just mean you potentially waiting longer. Think I'm one of the few that only have to give a weeks notice

Had my medical today and all seemed OK apart from blood pressure. He took 3 readings 126/98 141/103 and 143/108
He said it's below the cut off but just to see gp to check it out. Worried now I'll fail the medical.
I got more stressed the more he took it, and was already flapping over the hearing test as I did that right before. Not sure I'll be going much further

Try not to worry mate. I had mine today aswell.
I'm sure they will tell you soon enough if it's an issue. Maybe some people on here will know or share their results.
The guy seemed pretty decent so I'm sure if it was an instant fail he could of said.

Mate - pop and see your GP and explain what happened
Also - he said it was BELOW the cut off meaning it’s within limits

Ah ok thanks mate, that's reassuring. I assumed he would send the form off and someone at tfw decided.
As others have said, you're below the limit so you'll be alright. I actually found out on the day that I'd passed, not sure if she was supposed to tell me that, but Rachel from TFW rang me the same week to tell me that I had passed the medical. I reckon you'll know for definite this week.

My BP was similar and I passed, advised to go to see by GP.
