I do like that livery. It's simple and elegant, so much nicer than Arriva blue. Mind you, ATW were so fond of the paintbrush I suspect it will be a long time before the last trace of turquoise disappears!

TfW reveal new long-distance Class 175 trains
Transport for Wales (TfW) has revealed their new fleet of Class 175 trains as part of a major investment in Transport for Wales' long-distance trains.

Customers will soon be able to use USB, electric charging points and improved seating as part of the upgrades.

The first completed train rolled off the production line in Alstom's Technology Centre in Widnes, Cheshire this week.

The improvements have been described as a "significant investment" which will greatly improve customer experience.

TfW‘s rail services customer experience director, Colin Lea, said: "It's fantastic to be able to deliver these improvements for customers, which they rightly expect to see on a modern railway network.

"We know being able to travel in comfort and charge devices on the go are incredibly important to our customers, whether they are travelling for 20 minutes or four hours, for business or pleasure.

"While we are investing more than £800 million in brand new trains, they take time to build and we want our customers to have a comfortable experience right now.

"This significant investment is another major step to building a better railway for current and future generations."

As well as USB and plug sockets, customers will be able to travel on newly covered seats, with new carpet also being installed.

Interior fittings including table covers will be replaced too, while the exterior will be rebranded in TfW colours.

All 27 trains in the Class 175 fleet will receive the investment, which will soon be replicated on other TfW trains.

Shamefully I stayed indoors until the evening... I still need to go on the Cambrian Coast line, only been on the "main" line. Maybe when I go on it it will be on Transport for Wales liveried 158s

Today featured 158818, 158829, 158835 and 158836. I think only one of those was in the new livery.

In that photo, the LED destination display (although not displaying anything), the larger button door control panels have been replaced with ones with smaller buttons and sounders, the toilet window has been removed and if you look really carefully underneath where it was (difficult at this angle) you may be able to make out the cap chain of the CET drain point, if not the tank itself as it's black

Thanks. I don't travel on them regularly enough these days.

I did look closely at the destination display at the front, and couldn't decide if it was a switched-off LED display or a black roller blind.

No worries! I haven't yet been on a PRM modified 150, have only spotted them.

I can tell the difference

Carmarthen station platforms and waiting room have received the black, grey, red and white paint treatment. Some Arriva turquoise remains for now, however.

I know you were asking whether the interior had been refurbished, but the mathematical contrarian in me made me wonder if TfW had turned the 175 into a Klein bottle

The interior will have been refurbished Interior refurbishment and exterior repaint is being done at the same time per unit, at Alstom Widnes. Even 107 and 003 will have their wraps replaced with painted TfW livery when they get refurbished. Does anyone know what the situation with 107's Motor Standard vehicle is...?
