Transport dissertation

Hey guys! I am currently doing my Master’s dissertation project. The aim of this research is to examine the factors that affect individuals’ choice on the mode of transport they use to get to their place of work. It would be a huge help if you could spare 15 minutes and fill out the survey. You need to be 18 years old or over and employed either full time or part time. Thanks in advance.

A common error, but you need to include some "don't know" options. Not having 'don't knows' means that some people will lie or will give up on the question.

I'd also suggest having an 'other/fluid' option in gender.

'Handicapped' is also problematic - try 'physically disabled person' or replace the whole phrase with 'I have offered to help a person with a mobility or physical disability across the street'

And - from an ethics perspective - people should be able to withdraw at any time, rather than "You have one day to email me if you have changed your mind"...

How does that work when the survey does not ask for any identification and claims to be anonymous?

Ideally, there would be some background identifier for each entry. So it could be a timestamped unique identifier or something. This might involve someone identifying something about themselves to the researcher, but this would always be a necessary and reasonable part of withdrawing and shouldn't matter once the data is deleted.

Of course, right to withdrawl is not eternal - once data has been aggregated and used for analysis then it is not possible to withdraw. But really a resasonable window ought to be longer than 1 day, in my opinion!

Ideally it would give you an ID number at the end (once submitted) and prompt you to note that down, or send it to your email.

I think that the questions need a "don't know" option. I know my work HAS cycling space provision, because I know some people cycle in and, working in Canary Wharf, their bikes would be likely blown up if they just chained them to railings. But I have never found those cycling spaces, nor the changing spaces. I just know they exist, somewhere.

Just done the survey and I found it will let you leave irrelevant options blank - including entire sections.

Thank you for filling out the survey and all feedback.
Unfortunately it is difficult to locate the responses therefore participants have only one day to withdraw.
One of the research question is studying the impact of attitudes towards green environment hence there is NEP scale in my questionnaire.
Also because I am using the specific scale I cannot reword it and that's why I am using phrases such as "handicapped" etc.
And one of the areas I am looking at are the differences between males and females and that's why I did not include an option "other".

Doesn't seem an unreasonable link to make. My views on climate change have certainly lead to my choosing to use the car less often than I would otherwise have done.
