Some photos of the new footbridge erected at Huddersfield station recently

Good photos but I hope that 3-car 185 was just an exceptional short formed rather than booked 3-car!

The Piccadilly to York trains (that also serve intermediate stops between Stalybridge and Huddersfield) are almost always 3 car, I think.

In the LTP
All Scarborough services are 3 car
All Piccadilly stoppers (to York via Cas or Leeds peak extras) are 3 car
One* Redcar - Manchester Airport circuit is 3 car
A couple of South route services are 3 car
The Hulls at the end of the day** are 3

*at the moment this is 1P61/66/75/80, from May it becomes 1P65/70/79/84 FX. FO all Redcar - Airports will be 6 cars

**from May, MO one Hull - Liverpool circuit becomes booked 3 car

The reason for the 3 cars on the Scarborough trains is because most are departing from P2 at Victoria which only fits a 3 car 185. As above the few longer trains depart from the main station having reversed in the sidings or come from elsewhere.

I guess the other option was a shuttle from York again but you have to assume folks prefer not to change

Depends on your definition of progress. Since they left TPE the service has become significantly more stabilised.
That sounds like Operation Princess (and DMUs replacing L/H on the trans-Pennine route)... an apparently better service but with no more capacity...

I mean it's not.

It's reinstating what should have been there but they couldn't run because of the just absolute chaos in their competency and training.
