1) not seen anything recently and it's not in scope for TRU.

2) nothing confirmed at the moment only passive provision for Thorpe Park Station is planned nothing else. Outside of scope of TRU.
Thanks for that. In regard to Thorpe Park Station, I’ve found an article from their development website proposing the date of the station opening.

“That shift will be supported significantly by the arrival of the new Thorpe Park railway station, scheduled to open in 2027, providing direct access to Leeds city centre in under eight minutes.”

But as you mentioned, I think this is less of a TRU topic and more of a WYCA topic.

Is the proposed Thorpe Park railway station the one that originally had £20 million allocated to it in 2008 by the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Transport Board only for Governmental policy changes to obviate it?
I think the idea for the present Thorpe Park came after the suggested East Leeds Parkway (which was really just a way to clear trains away from Leeds Station by freeing up platform space) didn't happen. There wouldn't have been space in the timetable for both.

It's funny really as almost the whole Leeds & Selby Railway was built from the outset with passive provision for 4 track but not all ever got it. I understand most, if not all, modern structures over the line have been to the same standard.

Photo taken yesterday from the East Leeds Orbital Road bridge at Thorpe Park. Facing towards Leeds. I have no idea what the Orangemen were doing.
I dont know where it was intended to build a station, but the green field is the nearest to the Commercial Centre (a potential 10 minute walk uphill).
The recently erected OHLE posts suggest to me that 4 tracking isn't going to happen.
Shame.

Four tracking definitely is not happening as part of TRU only passive provision in the construction of Thorpe Park Station. (Some bits of TRU may be passive provisioned too but not aware).

That type of Twin Track Cantilever can have another one bolted onto the other side making it a full four track portal, so it looks like they might be leaving passive provision.

I went to the new huddersfield plat 3 yesterday on my way to the worth valley steam railway and noticed its quite improved only having 2 through platforms for trains to leeds newcastle eastbound plat 3 and manchester Liverpool westbound trains plat 2 although the man vic train does terminate on new plat 3 and 1 extended plat 1 for sheffield.
When does the next phase of work start to construct platforms 4 5 6 at huddersfield would anyone know?
I presume where plat 8 was will be new platform 4, and 5 6 I'm guessing is when the island platform is built near the old goods yard so at a guess the single span bridge still to go over John William St will be for the lines into plat 6 and also is plat 6 new going to be a termini plat for bradford trains Would it be from next year after new year 2026?

It looks like the bridge lift at Jack Lane between Batley & Dewsbury’s imminent with a crane in position this morning.

The station and its car park is planned there and in the foreground - I noticed on the way into Leeds the other day that all the OHLE piling was aside the existing 2 tracking, so they've definitely not created any provision for expansion. Whether piling for OHLE is particularly difficult or not I don't know, but I guess it's a little surprising that you wouldn't "do it once" - I guess there's expense in creating spans for 4 tracks if you're only using 2 for a while

Recent schemes have electrified 4-track sections with separate twin-track cantilevers on either side of the line where they could, rather than having portals right across all tracks. So if it ever was four-tracked, and if the existing tracks were far enough to one side to be out of the way of the new ones, then they would most likely just add more twin-track structures on the other side.

I will say this - the Series 1 TTCs do not have, have not had, and will not have the ability to bolt the booms together.

The portal booms are different designs of steel altogether, although similar.

And no doubt there was extra expense in building the new road bridge to span a potential 4 tracks rather than just the 2 existing. On that occasion somebody showed some common sense.

There appears to be a better shelter over the underpass exit now

The widened bridge offers a good vantage point.

Exactly. People are reading far too much into this. A quick look on an aerial map shows that there's space to the north (on the right side in the photo) and a housing estate to the south. Building two new tracks to one side of the current alignment has considerable efficiencies.

EDIT: Just to add, this aligns with the plans for the Thorpe Park station, where the northern platform is intended to be an interim structure.

Is it the end of the line for the mk1 coach and 144001 at Huddersfield station?
The road alongside them is closed on the 16th possibly meaning a crane and low loader are going to move them. I heard rumours that TPX wanted them removed as they were becoming a eyesore

Nope. That end of the station is being used as a secondary means of fire escape. TRU want them gone too.

Noted that, for now, there's only the three platforms in operation at Huddersfield. Platform 1 (Bay) towards Sheffield via Barnsley. Platform 2 (Through) for services towards Manchester and beyond and Platform 3 (Through) towards Leeds and York. Presume there's been some platform re-numbering going on here?! Also, are any of the other platforms at Huddersfield going to be brought back into use? If so, when? Or have they now gone?

The plans are upthread, but I think the island platform is being slightly modified and there'll be 3 additional platforms (2 through and 1 Leeds-facing slow line bay) behind the current P3.

I'm slightly, but pleasantly, surprised they have taken the opportunity to renumber the platforms.

(Edited to correct the platform details)

No doubt, but we are almost up to 10,000 posts on this particular thread and use of the 'search' function didn't immediately yield anything promising. So, where best to head off to?

I'm looking for them, but that's also why I outlined the headline changes.

I have now dug out the following PDF: https://gat04-live-1517c8a4486c4160...field_station_design_and_access_statement.pdf

That has the following image:

Showing that the platforms are effectively being 'pushed' towards the leeds end, and that there will be 4 through platforms at Huddersfield with the existing Island narrowed (so my earlier post was wrong), with a leeds-facing bay for the slow lines.

Assuming all movements are signalled, platforms 3 and 4 will be fully bi-directional, and trains from Leeds/bradford could terminate in any of 2-6 to return. It would also be possible for trains from Manchester to use any available platform and still be able to choose either fast or slow lines for maintenance or disruptions reasons if required.

Searching for "plan" in this thread gave me post #9532:

Is the above plan correct, with no connection from the Penistone Line to any of the through platforms? RTT suggests that the last train of the night uses Platform 2 and then goes ECS to Hillhouse at present.

There is a crossover at the far end of the tunnel between the Branch and the westbound main line, so the Penistone Line will be able to use any of 1-4, assuming no further changes are made to the tracks further out.

Obviously there has to be way for units to get from Hillhouse to Platform 1 and the Penistone line, remember RHTT still come this way into the main line station, this was from Friday https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:H02371/2025-10-17/detailed

Springwood junction so far as I know was always the point where trains accessed the far platforms in the past. There was (still is) not much room between the tunnel at the station end and the platforms to access the higher number platforms from the Sheffield bay side.

See this lovely painting that shows how trains from Sheffield could access every platform with the aid of an additional diamond crossing at Springwood Junction

:)
