TransPennine Express station CCTV cameras

I’ve noticed at a lot of TransPennine Express stations, there are, what look like, several CCTV cameras facing the track.

Looking inside the casing, it doesn’t look like your typical camera lens. It looks more like it’s designed to point an infrared beam or something?

Does anyone know what the purpose of these cameras are for? Thanks.

Mass detectors, used by the CIS for train detection. A lot of them are surplus to requirement now with the resignalling of some areas.
