Yeah Hull-Manchester is still virtually exclusively 158 operated! Slightly off topic, but are Northern retaining any TPE 158s or are they all going down south?

That's good news at least, thanks!

Are TPE keeping any 158s, or are they all going?

Dunno but the SWT Brighton to Reading Service has been almost exclusively operated by TPE 158s for a couple of weeks.

Not sure how you'd get that info, as has been mentioned, they certainly are still in service with TPE, doing the Hull run.

There are still a lot in service as most are running in multiple to form 4 car trains! I fear it will be a big shock when many services are slashed to 2 car by TPE.

can see the point in running 4 cars you get double the capacity, less overcrowding, plus not got units sitting around making no money, little bit off topic how are 185's doing in everyday service any major teething troubles,

Yes, I know they are still in service! I listed the unit numbers as an ackowledgment of that fact and to point out those that have yet to transfer to other operators!

Or was you post in reply to someone else's post? If so whose? It does help if you quote what and who you are replying to.

If all goes to plan they should all be going.

I'm gutted. :-x :angry5: :sad3:

At least Northern Rail still have the red / silver ones. Anyone seen the new Northern Rail 158s in purple / blue etc? The fronts look bloody awful!!!!!!!!!!

I think they look ok actually! The ones with new internal refurbs are very nice. Those WYPTE ones are absolutely diar inside, went on one this evening - carpets ripped, tables missing, virtually no padding in seats, threadbare covers, dirty...

What do you expect Max? The 158/9s are in extreme need of works attention (a bit like the (ex)TPE 158s), as they have not had anything done to them apart from what's needed to keep them running....

Although not operated by TPX, Northern do use 158s on the Blackpool-Preston-Leeds-York line via Halifax.

I've seen a few ex-CT 158s on this route.

158773 and 158774, both in TPE livery, have been seen this morning running 1E69 (09:22 LIV-SCA) and subsequently 1F67 (12:47 SCA-LIV)
