Transfer from Paddington to Victoria

What London Buses go from Paddington to Victoria? I'm thinking the Tube is the quickest method but for a bit of scenary the bus may be more interesting!

Numbers 36 (24 hour service) and 436 appear to run via Victoria. The 36 is for New Cross Bus Garage and the 436 is for Lewisham.

Both run via Marble Arch, Park Lane and Hyde Park Corner.

Yes, however I believe the quickest way is Bakerloo to Oxford Circus then Victoria line to Victoria. IIRC there's only 6tph along the Circle line, so you could be waiting a while too, there's about 3x times the frequency if you go via Bakerloo and Victroria.

Yes, if you want to head West out of Paddington and go a long way round, you can. Unless there's some reason to avoid tube trains, I'd take the Bakerloo to Oxford Circus, cross the platform and take the Bakerloo. Yes, the sub-surface (full size) trains are more pleasant to travel on, but they are also more likely to be delayed due to flat junctions, and the Circle trains are far less frequent (around a quarter of the frequency of the tube lines in Zone 1)

By the way TfL have an excellent website, I suggest you give it a try http://www.tfl.gov.uk/

You can look up any bus route, it gives a list of bus stops and has interactive maps.

If you want to know how long a journey by LU or bus will take, use the journey planner (but allow extra time for delays, in the case of buses, and considerably more time at peak times)

Thank you I did look on their site, which usually is excellent, but it wouldn't load on my iPad for some reason.

Might try your method via Oxford Circus then. As long as its not a heavy change (i.e. not like going from the Northern to the Circle at Kings Cross!!)

It's cross-platform, but Northern to Circle at Kings Cross can be done in a couple of mins I'd have thought. You didn't use the Northern ticket hall did you?! (map) Rear of the train to rear of train (heading west/north) or front to front (heading east/south) should be quick. I suggest an app with tube exits on it. There's one simply called "London" (can be hard to find as there are others with the same name) that's free for Android (I think Apple users have to pay the apple tax though).

If its cross-platforms then that's fine. I can't remember what method I did at Kings Cross but I know the Circle, H&C and Met Lines are in a different area to the Northern and the Piccadilly Line.

I've got a Tube app on my iPhone but I don't think it tells me the fastest journey, maybe I've set it to the least number of changes or something. But anyway a cross from the Bakerloo to the Victoria at Oxford Circus shouldn't be too bad then!

Using the 36 or 436 is often similar or faster than the Tube, and certainly more pleasant in the peak. If you're not in a hurry it's a nice walk too (45-60 mins) - across the road from Paddington, down London St, past the Victoria and along a mews, right at the end, cross into Hyde Park then through Hyde Park, Green Park, past the Queen's house and down Buckingham Gate to Victoria.

Agree Bakerloo/Victoria is the way to go by Tube, it's an easy cross-platform interchange at Oxford Circus (well, maybe 10 m walk on the flat). The circle line is infrequent, slow and often seems to stop for minutes at random points.

It's a good idea but I forgot my ticket includes tube travel across.

If you're not in a hurry it's a nice walk too (45-60 mins) - across the road from Paddington, down London St, past the Victoria and along a mews, right at the end, cross into Hyde Park then through Hyde Park, Green Park, past the Queen's house and down Buckingham Gate to Victoria.

Sounds lovely but 1) I only have about an hour to cross, 2) I'll have loads of baggage and 3) I'm not sure regardless of factors 1 and 2 whether I'd have the energy!
