I’ve just noticed a curious Trans Pennine service that I think may be new. Twice a day there is a service from Edinburgh that terminates at Berwick upon Tweed and then goes back to Edinburgh. I don’t recall any regular service terminating at Berwick previously. Anyone shed any light as to why this service has appeared?

Launched when Reston reopened to provide a couple of extra stopping services there without slowing down LNER or XC. They utilise an 802 that would otherwise sit idle in Edinburgh.
Believe they’ll stop at East Linton when that opens too.
