Looking to do the TransPennine Ale Trail with a couple of mates on 8th January. One has a 16-25 railcard, as do I but my second mate doesn't.

With the now ridiculously inflated prices, it looks to be around £43.40 for the 3 of us from Chapel en le Frith to Dewsbury. Can I get this cheaper?

Cheers

Is slightly cheaper by splitting tickets at the PTE boundaries (buying CDR's)

Chapel - Middlewood/Hazel Grove
Middlewood/Hazel Grove - Greenfield
Greenfield - Marsden
Marsden - Dewsbury

However you would only save a couple of pounds and would need to change at Manchester Piccadilly, Stalybridge and Huddersfield to get a train which stops at Marsden and Greenfield both way s(for this combination to be valid). OK if your planning on visiting the pubs at these stations though.

Alternatively if you can start from Chinley, 3 South Pennine Day Rangers (2 railcard discounted) are £32.90 and would give you greater flexibility, these are not valid from Chapel en le Frith.
