Oxford Road does seem like it would be a perfect candidate for trams; it's a long, mostly fairly straight and wide road with plenty of demand for public transport, which is already mostly closed to private vehicles. But if such an extension were to be built, how would you suggest it would work?
Some particular questions:
Where would it connect to the main network? Is there space in St Peter's Square or would it have to be somewhere else?
Would it be financially viable given the number of buses already serving that route?
Where would the trams eventually terminate?
