My experience has been that my suggestions to Traksy have been acknowledged and implemented in due course, whereas my similar input to Open Train Times has been completely ignored. Sorry to hear your experience wasn’t as good as mine.

My email was acknowledged, so I know they received it... Basically, if you look at the EH map, trains can't arrive on platform 2 from the down fast - rather a big mistake methinks.

How does Traksy get updated following resignalling work? Recently schemes have taken place on the routes from Radyr, and last weekend around Llanelli.

Radyr box is now close so it will be tfw to give the information

I must confess, I prefer the layout of OTT - that's possibly because I'm so used to seeing the layout as going 'down' from left to right, whereas Traksy does it the other way round!

Traksy tries to stay broadly west to the left and east to the right. It's a bit of fudge in some places, like the East Coast and Brighton lines, and the change of direction at Berwick is a bit annoying, but it mostly makes sense over large maps. If I remember rightly OTT started to take the same approach on lines into London, although I don't know if many of the maps ever got changed in the end.

I think that approach is very sensible, never has trouble interpreting a traksy map.

Waterloo - Weymouth on OTT varies, the view seems illogical to me as I’m in the south, and the viewpoint is from the north of the line as far as Micheldever. Then as far as Brockenhurst it’s left to right west to east, but then it switches again ending with Weymouth on the right. Perhaps a work in progress…

Yes but I knew that. I was responding to the point raised about OTT.

I gave up on OTT long since. None of the freight links ever worked - most seemed to link into Class 2 trains at the other end of the country.

OTT is better at showing route setting than Traksy is, the latter often either doesn't show it or gets it woefully wrong. However it was an issue with route setting at the west end of Edinburgh station which I reported to OTT months ago and haven't had even a thank-you. And OTT's links from displayed train reporting numbers are dreadful, they either don't work at all or link to a completely random train and schedule which has nothing to do with the train you're interested in. Traksy gets all that right from what I can see.

Edinburgh routes got completely redone a few weeks ago and should now be largely correct on Traksy. That applies from Haymarket West to Marshall Meadows. Edinburgh station and Haymarket are due to be recontrolled again in a couple of weeks though, so it's likely that it will need to be redone again at that point.

The standard is the Low mileage to be on the left and increase going right but the standard explicitly states this can be reversed where doing so may risk confusion, such as routes with the Zero point at their eastern end, which will typically be shown on a map with east at the right and west at the left (e.g. the GWML)

That may be the current standard, but as with a lot of things on the railways, in the past different standards or conventions may have applied.

Plus, some diagrams have different ELRs on them, with the low mileages in different directions…

The current convention for signalling plans is (and has been for some time) to show the Down direction running from left to right. Exceptions may apply (e.g. to match the orientation of the diagram or panel in the signal box).

Seems to be working for me - just checked the Darlington map and it's showing trains and allowing me to click on them for details.
EDIT: I am viewing on Windows 10 & Chrome latest version.

Ah yes, just checked the two trains in the bays at Darlington and the times are just before midnight last night - my apologies everyone.

If memory serves me right, the guy who runs it is a member of this forum so will no doubt spot this thread.

As an aside, traksy is (I believe) a one man band operation and as it is holiday season he might be away, or just might be busy doing other family stuff, I'm sure when he checks his mail, he will see your email and try and sort things in a timely manner. In the meantime I can only suggest a little patience maybe required until it's sorted.
