Trainspotting locations near stoke

Does anyone know of any good trainspotting locations within a 20-30 min walk of stoke station? I found a cycle path that appears to run near the line, but does anyone else know of any good locations?

I can't help much, beyond advising you don't venture too far in a southerly direction, beyond Stoke Junction, or you'll miss anything going to or coming from the Derby line. Only two EMT units an hour, but the occasional freight, test train or light engine move between Crewe and Toton.
