I'd strongly prefer people didn't put their paper tickets through the barriers when they're open as they may end up jammed and I have to get called off my break to fish someone's ticket out

On 17 December, the account posted a picture of Didcot Parkway open ticket gates with the caption

“The gates are open but you're a good law abiding citizen”

and a person putting her ticket through the barrier.

The implication is that there’s a obligation to do so and less law abiding people wouldn’t.

This is misleading, do you agree?

Sounds like they are having a go at Trainpal

Some (most!) of the railway travel "advice" doled out on TikTok is pure trash.

They also say in the comments (link in the first post):
if your train is cancelled or delayed you can absolutely claim a refund for a valid ticket for that route...and that's exactly why good citizens like this still scan their tickets even when the gates are open..
which is inaccurate as delay repay isn’t the same as a refund

Some brands do it very well; Railsmartr used to appear in my FYP with genuinely pretty good, high quality content - often covering new rolling stock, travel tips at specific stations/on specific routes etc. It didn't feel like advertising at all.

I think you need someone who's a) from the right .. generation to actually have a good understanding of TikTok & digital content creation, b) has enough understanding of the domain to be able to produce genuinely interesting content that isn't misleading/inaccurate and c) has the right personality to present it in an engaging way.

That's because a very knowledgeable forum member was behind their social media account (get in touch with me if you'd like to arrange to meet them at a forum meal/event in York).

Yes, I think it's quite a skill and requires a fair bit of knowledge.

The impression I get from the 'Trainsplit' TikTok account is that it isn't made by any of the knowledgeable people at Trainsplit who have attended forum fares workshops. It could be outsourced. I could certainly think of ways it could be improved anyway. I didn't think it was even genuine when I first saw a reference to it. I'm not expecting you or anyone else to be able to comment on the channel here.
