No. 1 x 150. They split in the morning off the 07 47 from Rhymney, one to continue Rhymney line and the other to work 09 14 Swanline to Swansea. They get re-united again to form 17 01 Cardiff to Rhymney. To facilitate the attaching and detaching at Canton a leg to Penarth has to be canned.

It did used to be a few years ago. Come to think of I did see the two split with one going back to Rhymney and one going over to Swansea.

The canning of the Penarth services was stupid really as it was right when the schools were starting/finishing! (I always fell victim to this!)

This morning, 170108 is on 1V04 0656 Nottingham to Cardiff vice a pair of 2-car 170s.

After all, this thread isn't designed to be a 'live gen' thread, as much as that would be useful. I know I make the effort to post 'live gen' but it's not always possible to do.

Point is this thread is more of a historical document in the making, a source of reference, a community project if you will. Some people may never need to research past workings, but a lot of us myself included do, a popular reason being due to not having something noted, or notes lost due to unavoidable circumstances.

The more we all contribute to this thread, the more use it will have to all of us, whether in the present or in 10 years time.

One only has to look at the popularity of the TOPS Request Thread to see how much people's observations come in handy!

Finally for now, I intend to make a truckload of observations over the next few days, but I don't envisage getting them processed onto this thread until Sunday or Monday.

Just for interests sake, here is a report from Valencia Nord this morning.
252 058-3 was stabled on the west side.
252 050-0 was departing light from a centre platform, shortly afterwards it was stabled on the east side with 121 set 9 (all the 1xx series of AVEs have set numbers).
130 set 23, with 9671 91-30 081-3 leading, arrived in platform 3 which was already occupied by 2 five coach EMUs 465 X29 & 465 X25 (each coach has a different number where the X is).
252 072-4 arrived in platform 2 with a Talgo set from Murcia around 10 am, bound for Barcelona - it would have to reverse slowly out to the triangle at Fuente St Luis for turning before running to Barcelona as the older Talgos can only run at high speed in one direction.
Several 447 class 3-coach EMUs were operating local services.
All tracks in Valencia Nord are broad gauge, all standard gauge and some dual gauge trains use Joaquim Sorolla, via a gauge changer when necessary. This is just south of Nord station on the west side.
My trips to and from the city are via the metre-gauge system using 43 class trains, 4360 being used on the return.
If anyone finds this report interesting I can continue to add them occasionally.

XC's 170520 has been out to Manchester Piccadilly today on 1M29 from 10:31Birmingham-Piccadilly(ex Paignton) and back on 1O18 12:27 Manchester-Birmingham. After a set swap at Birmingham it's currently on 1M42 13:57 Birmingham-Piccadilly and will work the 16:07 Piccadilly-Bristol TM

Aye, but they're not entirely in an easily readable form. Especially for the stuff off Haymarket, where I've put it down as, say, 158722 1122 HAY-EDB. The correct code for Haymarket is HYM, as I've realised since I got back, but I might just be lazy and copy-paste the lot in its current rough format later. See what I feel like doing, but some of them are in my A6 notebook (in a bid to save battery life on Saturday!) so those will have to be manually typed up.

I suppose if anyone's that desperate to find out what the services were (I have a lot of 91s down as what time they passed Finsbury Park and in what direction, not their actual service, but I suppose anyone really wanting the information that badly could just pop onto RTT themselves and look it up!
