Thats what I said in my previous message.
Now going on to my next topic, my advice to the OP is if you can get RTT on your mobile phone you can get live info on what is running and what isnt so your not wasting your time waiting for something that is not going to turn up.
Speaking from experience I've once spotted and photted on Carlisle station at night up to 03:00AM where I left to go to my £50 hotel with double bed that I'd booked. (I do not believe in roughing it!)
It was busy enough and best thing is most freight stops for a crew change which makes it probably *the* best public place in the country for getting night shots of freight if you got a camera/tri pod.
I got pairs of 86's, lots of 66's (DRS, FL, EWS), 92's on intermodals and wagonloads, 90's on sleepers and freightliners, Tampers, MPVs, a stone blower, light engines, a 5-loco convoy of 60s+66s that had come up from Warrington, 57 on the logs and a test train with DRS 37. This was back in 2007 however! No RTT to help me find out what was on its way up back then.
Returned to the station at 10:00 the next day. A trainspotter who had been there all night was still there. I'd asked him what I'd missed, he said nothing special except a green tank train with a class 60 that had been through a couple of times during the very early morning. But other than that he said it had gone quiet after I had left. So if anything the first half of the night is are far more productive than the second half. It wasn't very good in the early evening however and took a while until it started to "get going" properly... when the freight started flowing and the irrelevant units and annoying announcements died down.
It was a Friday night and it was very memorable. I was partly staying there to go to the DRS open day the next day. There was no regrets.
