Not all crew changes happen at blackfriars, southeastern drivers sign all the way to Bedford and FCC drivers sign all the way to Orpington and Sevenoaks.

377/2's have never made it to ashford, only /5's. the /2's have a set diagram and can not be moved of it, they have to stay as a 12 car and are not interchangeable with /5's.

Eight 377/2s were on hire to FCC in 2009 when all the 377/5s were supposed to be in traffic but only two (377501 and 504) actually delivered. The attached photo shows 377213 with a 377/5 in passenger service near Bedford

Southeastern do have Dual Voltage stock though, in the shape of 30 of their 375s

Do these ever use their 25KV equipment in normal service and if they do can anyone tell me where please?

If this is to do with coupling issues between the sub-classes, I am reasonably sure in my recollection that these have been sorted out long ago.

I don't think the OHLE on any 375/6 has ever been used in service. Leftover from planned use on Thameslink I recall, though obviously nobody has bothered to remove it.

given that Southern removed the OHLE from the 313s when they took them over, it actually seems pretty incredible that Southeastern haven't removed it from their 375s and put it into storage until it is needed. It presumably does get checked over during maintenance, and even then will be slowly corroding/degrading more than it would in a dry warehouse.

The Southern 313s were a bit of a special case as it wasnt just the pantographs that were removed. They were provided with a dc bus line to prevent the units becoming gapped and as a consequence some of the ac control gear was removed. The 313/2 are effectively dc only units now.

Could removal of the pantograph gear on a 375 improve the train's performance because it is lighter? Or would it hardly matter?

Do many people do journeys on Glasgow-Newcastle such as Newcastle -Dumfries for example, taking advantage of the through service?
