There will be some pretty major engineering work happening in the Sheffield area on Sunday 20th April 2014 that will see trains doing some odd things, which some of you who like doing rare routes might be interested in.
In summary, all of the platforms at Sheffield will be closed this day apart form Platforms 1 and 2, which means there will be very limited capacity available at Sheffield station. This will see only 2 XC services, 1 TP service, 1 EMT service and 1 NT service use the station per hour.
This can be seen here - http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/search/advanced/SHF/2014/04/20/0200-0159?stp=WVS&show=all&order=wtt
Liverpool - Norwich services will divert via Dore South Curve and miss out Sheffield completely calling at Dronfield and all the Hope Valley stations on the way - example here: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/C60865/2014/04/20/advanced
Due to the route southbound out of Sheffield station being closed at certain hours of the day while they move engineering trains around, there will be two TransPennine Express services going from Sheffield to Manchester Piccadilly via Huddersfield - these are the 1324 and 1813 services from Sheffield - example here: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/N44452/2014/04/20/advanced
Because of the same reason, three CrossCountry services (1V56, 1V88 and 1V72) will completely avoid Sheffield and go directly from Wakefield / Doncaster to Chesterfield via Masborough and Beighton - see example: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/C11610/2014/04/20/advanced
Hope Valley Northern Rail services are starting and terminating at Hathersage. Most other Northern stopping services are starting and terminating at Meadowhall.
Quite a few other services are also being diverted via Beighton between Sheffield and Chesterfield.
Just thought I'd make this post to make people aware in case they fancy getting some trains over rare routes that wouldn't normally see passenger trains.
