Besides local Northern services towards Sunderland, what other services are scheduled to use the High Level Bridge in Newcastle? Are services regularly scheduled this way or just when there is disruption?

The Plymouth - Dundee services.
Do they reverse at Newcastle or run via Tyne Valley?

Isn't that because a second 220 is coupled on the front from Bristol Temple Meads and is disconnected at Newcastle. Thus by reversing at Newcastle the Bristol set is left in the platform at Newcastle when the Plymouth set goes north.

My experience of this service - between Birmingham (15.03) and Sheffield is that there are no reservations in the front (Bristol to Newcastle) set thus making for a more comfortable and less crowded journey.

both the 06.15 and 08.30 services from Kings Cross to Newcastle are booked to depart Newcastle as ECS moves via the High Level bridge and return to Newcastle via the King Edward bridge in a circle mainly for route refreshing purposes but in reality this rarely happens but the times are as follows:

5Y27 Newcastle dep:09.59 arr:10.04
5Y32 Newcastle dep:12.00 arr:12.05

There is no booked East Coast passenger move over the High Level Bridge, however if you find a train in reverse formation, it will use that route to turn.

There is one East Coast service booked via the High Level Bridge

1E30 18:18 Aberdeen to Leeds reverses at Newcastle, then runs via HLB. It also runs via Castleford and Methley to be back in the correct formation at Leeds.

I remember traveling on the Kings Cross-Edinburgh 1700 service. It was a HST, which was the first surprise. The second was arriving in Edinburgh backwards. The alcohol consumed prevents me from remembering where we turned around... We were in first class at the rear when we left, at the front when we arrived. I assume we went over the High Level Bridge.

It is not according to the WTT, however there are frequent STPs and variations which route it that way.

Might be a few more East Coast services using the High Level Bridge when there are the Carlisle diverts on in October.
