Sorry if the thread has been up a few times.
Does anyone know if trainee train driver jobs come up often? every time Ive been on any of the web sites Ive missed the closing date by a few hours! :/
There's no set pattern for positions like these to come up. What I'd suggest to do is visit the websites of your 'local' TOC's to register for Trainee Driver Jobs, then, only if your prepared to move, is to look further afield. To my knowledge Virgin, East Coast and CrossCountry don't offer these positions externally (and hardly ever internally). Look at Northern, TransPennine, Scotrail, Arriva Trains Wales for openings. Also have a look at the freight companies too. And keep checking and checking the websites, I've seen people see a job pop up and within 24 hours disappear again!
If you want it enough you'll find a way!
Ive heard that the vacancies alert doesn't always work for trainee drivers. I suppose its a way of the TOC knowing they only get people applying who are very keen/dedicated to getting into the role.
Hi Stuart
I looked up S W Trains h r departments telephone number and just asked for a form. I asked if it was ok to fill in and return just to get my foot in the door, and two days later it was on the door mat.
And yesterday I received the formal job invertation for me to start in April.
