The position has been closed for a while now. They only opened on the 2nd and then Manchester and Euston opened again for a bit longer on the 3rd.
Damn... I missed it! I was having problems with rail forums. Only now did I manage to get back on it and saw this! Would have applied

The ones who have been successful, what's your application status on the website?
Has anyone had a rejection email?

I've received OPC email too. Euston.

Avanti says you need to live an hour away from the depot? Is this a strict requirement?
Yes

Morning guys, I've had my invitation for the first round of assessments for the Manchester Talent Bank. The only assessment I recognise on the list is the situational judgement one, anyone else know what the others are? They seem almost like interview assessments and not the usual concentration and AART tests?

Mine still says application submitted on the website

No it won't affect anything g at this stage. You simply don't matter.

Thank you for confirming, it's a relief to know.

Sorry can you clarify what you mean by having your application with anyone else at risk. How do others affect you?
I do not know/ can not remember if I did any of these tests previously so was not sure if I failed this time it would mean I can no longer be in the running for the position also do not want it to look bad to the other TOC that I am still applying for roles despite being in process still so not sure if they can see these tests there side. Thanks

I'm guessing if we've not had the email, we've been unsuccessful then
I've been told that you would receive a rejection email or at the very least your application will say you've been rejected. That said I have sort of resigned myself to thinking that if anyone doesn't hear anything today then chances are they probably weren't successful.

Thats not the case unfortunately. Some just remain submitted and do not change in status.

Genuine question, but if I failed the OPC criteria for a Virgin Trains driver apprenticeship a few years ago, does that count as previously failing the train driver assessment process?

Your 2 chances refer to psychometric testing, so if you've failed any of them once then that counts as a strike.

What do you mean by failed the OPC criteria? Do you mean you did psychometrics and passed but didn't meet the enhanced standard?

I mean that I did an assessment similar to the one now but didn't meet the criteria.

Well if it was the online assessments then no it doesn't count as a strike.

The strikes are when you go to the assessment centre and do the proper psychometric testing.

That being said, when I emailed OPC they said if people get through these first online tests then any further online testing will be classed as a strike if you fail which is quite disconcerting.

I wonder what other online tests there could be and imagine if your WiFi cut out or something and you lost a life! Hopefully any further testing will be at a proper assessment centre.

If you've already been accepted into a TOC talent pool your OPC assessment results have been checked right? So how could failing Avanti's weird extra test that replaces MMI affect that? Do they re-check your results when offering you a course? Or do OPC contact all TOCs to tell them you've now failed? Doesn't make sense

I honestly have no idea, if I were you I would contact OPC and ask them.

So I've completed my tests and submitted my application. Now I just have to anxiously wait to see what the results may be. Last time though when I applied for a VT apprenticeship they were quick to tell me I failed, so this time I think it's somewhat promising that this hasn't happened yet. Fingers crossed!

Just at the point I was getting disappointed, boom. The email invitation lands (Euston applicant).

I was thinking the same. I’m in a talent pool for someone else. They’re not gonna check again surely!
