If you signed already you should be fine.
They have to meet to arrange an implementation date.
If people start before then maybe they'll just scrape in but I can't say for sure.

I really cant see this to be an issue, 1 Sunday a Month for new starters ( 12 a year and 8 for existing Drivers ) Thats still only one Sunday a month, you still only have to do 35 hours a week, and still only a 4 day week, If you really dont want to work a Sunday then you can swap with anyone that doesnt mind . Sometimes It is beneficial to tack a Sunday on to the start or end of a shift pattern.
The salary package to compensate is in my opinion very generous , I appreciate that untill the complete offer is in the public domain the headline is ' We must now work Sundays ' If this is a deal breaker for people wanting to come into the industry as a Driver , then thats unfortunate.

For me personally I am happy with the new package.

I have no problem working 8 or 12 sundays a year.

My problem lies with there being differing conditions between new and existing drivers.

I feel once you start dividing the workforce through differing conditions for the same job, the employer gets more control. It puts them in a better place to keep eroding future conditions until through natural wastage, eventually the remainder of the workforce are worse off.

I thought Sundays were additional to the week. Making each Sunday worked a 5 day week.

If you really dont want to work a Sunday then you can swap with anyone that doesnt mind .

Have they managed to get Sundays included in the week then, because as I read it Sundays were still 'outside' and considered extra. (non pensionable/overtime)

Hi guys,

Newbie to this forum in regards to posting even though I've been reading up since the last 3 months.

I have a question or maybe a dilemma that I need answering.

Recently bare the Muti Model Interview I have thankfully passed the test due to no managers being about they couldn't do the MMI. Awaiting dates for that......in the meantime another post I applied for same role has sent me to do the initial Opc test which I have until Friday to do.

My question is can I proceed with another toc as I've passed most test? Or is this opening up a can of worms for me???

Any help will be appreciated.

Good for you, for some it's not so attractive.
Also if you work a Sunday it's not a 35 hour week is it.
It's an extra day(overtime) which is being forced upon some.
Ok you can get them covered but if the company don't want to pay to have them inside the week then why should we be forced to work overtime to cover them???
Also what we going to negotiate with in 4 years when everyone else has caught up with our pay anyway?
It's not just Sundays, it's a poor deal all round imo.

Cheers. I was hoping they sorted out the complaints I was hearing. I knew it went back to get some minutae sorted out but many thoughts I heard was that without the cash, it is indeed a poor deal.

I'm not sure I could go back to a 5 day week.

Well people are arguing it's still a 4 day week, technically it is but as far as I'm concerned if you're being forced to work an extra day each month then it's not a 4 day week on that occasion.
If you choose to work it then that's upto you but committing people to work it is wrong and aslef have just shown how weak they've got now.
All about the money but at the end of it the company will have the upper hand as we'll have nothing to negotiate with on a better deal.

Taxi agreement:
A taxi to home or nearest station if no train within an hour of finish/start time if booking off/on between the hours of 23:59 and 05:00.

This agreement will be kept for existing Drivers but anyone entering the Driving grade after the pay deal has been accepted will not be included in the taxi agreement.



Sundays:
Existing Drivers will have to commit to working 8 Sundays per year, or find cover for them. Anyone joining the Driving grade after the pay deal has been agreed - it's 12 Sundays instead of 8. Pick 3 per quarter from your rostered Sundays.


They are the only differences in Terms & Conditions between existing Drivers and New Drivers.

Had some good news as well today, I have all ready passed all exams and interviews for thameslink working out of Ashford so was told when my medical date was 1st June and a start date 17th July.

So not much longer to go, am on holiday from tomorrow till 30th may lol.

Majority of the classroom learning takes place in Central London, Lower Thames Street near London Bridge. But you will be sent all over, Three Bridges, Bedford, Hornsey to name a few. Congratulations!

You'll get free travel on any Govia service, so Thameslink, Southern, Gatwick Express, Great Northern and SouthEastern.

You'll get about 75% off all other services including the tube. There are also other unofficial agreements in place which will allow you to travel for work for free on other services.

After a year of being a qualified driver you'll get generous Eurostar offers availible too.

Excellent, the trains that run from Ramsgate are SouthEastern so I'd be on that heading up to London so at least that's free.

Varies from place to place, a year high speed ticket is around £5000 depending where you are so knock roughly 75% of of that.
