Wow. That's a long wait. Good luck to you.

Any tips about what to expect. Mine is coming up soon.

Phoned them at Go Ahead House today and was promised a call back as the person dealing was at a meeting. Still waiting <(

I know of at least 1 person who had a dmi the same day and was told over 2 weeks later, someone on another day heard sameday and another heard 3 weeks later. (http://www.railforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=143493)

All I can say is that the DMI is quite a relaxed affair, definitely not as intense as other TOC's.
Usual scenario "tell us what you know about the company" followed by 5-6 "give an example of" competency type questions.
All I can advise is do your homework on the TOC and don't panic! :D

Sorry to hear you're going through a HR nightmare. It will be 4 weeks from assessment pass to DMI for me too. Think the largest ever uk driver recruitment must be straining them.

Doing my homework now. Will make sure I know all about GTR and Thameslink (or do they expect you to know info about Great Northern/Southern/Gatwick Express too ? ). Learning routes, train types, and am now extremely familiar with Connections :)

Good luck with the rest of your application.

I applyied for the gillingham trainee train driver (GTR) in september, got email for assessment date on December 21 . Had the assessment on Jan 14 ( I think) passed , got DMI for 9 Feb ( again not sure 100% the date ) they rang me about 7 hours after the interview and told me I've passed . Had my MMI interview on about the 24th febraury and still waiting to hear back , I've rang head office and told either the system has crashed or they will ring me again to let me know . Seems like it happening to everyone at the moment...

It states that, on the OPC site, some of the questions will ask what you know about the company, any pointers on what info I should research?

Hi everyone!

New to the forum and rail industry.

Ive applied for the Trainee Train Driver that closed on the 12th March.

Feel very lucky, as I have a email asking me to complete a online assessment. Would anyone be kind to advise me what sort of things the assessment could be about? Going to do it tomorrow.

Also just joining the forum tonight is there a jargon buster page as people have mentioned DMI and MMI ??

Thanks in advance and good luck to everybody who has applied :D

DMI- Driver manager interview. Just an interview with a driver manager at the TOC.
MMI- multi modal interview(I think). Done by OPC an external company asking 6 questions about situations you have been in.

There's lots of information on this forum so spend an hour or so go through it and prepare yourself for the assessments etc if you get that far.

I suppose you know that the online test you completed doesn't have a pass or fail (as previously said in this forum). It's an indication for them to understand how you would behave in certain circumstances. I did it at the end of my assessment day, which is your next stage, I guess. Now, perhaps to gain time, it seems that they have decided to do it first thing, online.

Allegedly, it is used as a sort of reference for them when the MMI (Multi Modal Interview) takes place.

Good luck though. :)

So I did the assessment but I know I got 2 questions wrong on company info, when I did the first one. Only realised my mistake when I was doing the second assessment. Got 2 invites of the same assessment because I applied for both vacancies. My question now is what impact could this have?

Personally, I don't know what's happening with these new online tests. It would seem that GTR has changed the way they sift out people.

As far as I knew the process was: application form - assessment day - driver manager interview - multi modal interview - medical. I'm a bit lost at present.

Wow! well completed the assessment and I wouldn't say "didn't seem very difficult" maybe I wasn't as ready as I thought I was. But I've never completed anything like that before and didn't know what to expect!

Well good luck and hope you get to the next stage!

I applied to a Trainee Train Driver role with GTR back in January and attended and completed the assessment day and was invited for interview which is booked for a few weeks time.

I am yet to do a MMI or DMI and all correspondence and the web portal does not indicate what type of interview it will be. It is being held at the depot so presumably DMI as I heard all MMIs take place at Go Ahead House in Croydon.

Any advise on if this will be a DMI or MMI, and any pointers?

All responses much appreciated.

hi emzy_007
hope you don't mind me asking but how long did it take for you too hear back after completing the assessment day with regards to booking your interview?
At the assessment day with southern, the examiner said it would be dmi next and then if successful mmi. dmi being at local depot and mmi at go ahead house. hope that helps.

I applied in Jan 2017, and was invited to an assessment day 2 days after submitting the application. This was booked for 2 weeks later.

Following attending the assessment day (and passing), it took just under two weeks to receive an email asking me to log in and book the interview. There were lots of slots to book, some of which were within 3 weeks, however I decided to go for a later one at the start of April to give me time to prepare.

Thanks for your held, I am going to presume it is the DMI then! Whereabouts are you in the process, and for which area?

I also applied in jan 2017 & was invited for an assessment on 9th March, which I passed :) just waiting to hear from southern about a date for the Dmi, my local depot from what I have gathered will be Brighton, although I live in Eastbourne. How about yoursel?

Yes I would presume it's dmi, especially if you were invited to your local depot. It will probably be with two line managers there. Seems strange it was not stated at all.
