I'm looking for a job as a trainee train driver. Does anyone know if there are any vacancies right now and where abouts?

Hi there, I think the best thing to do is make a note of all of the train stations within an hour of where you live. Then Google search "train operating companies that serve" + the station names individually. Once you have that list of companies, search their names plus "vacancies".

Just be aware that recruitment may be on hold until later in the year, and that there is a lot of competition for trainee train driver roles. Having said that, do your research, work on your CV, keep applying and as long as you have a good work history, are in decent health and haven't any addictions to drugs or alcohol you have as good a chance as anyone out there.

All the best!

Have a good luck around the various threads on the forum, you’ll soon get the gist of TOC’s/FOC’s and what goes on.. Just takes a bit of research but it’s all on here. If you type into the search bar you will find a whole host of info from previously asked questions regarding which Train Operating Companies work which areas, how to apply, tests to practice etc.. There is a lot to take in, but it’s all here somewhere just have a real good look around. I hope that helps.

Sorry, but this just shows laziness imo.

If you ask 'where do I find vacancies and who should I apply for', that's great, but you're basically asking other people to look for jobs and tell you where they are, with no knowledge of where you are and where you want to work.

I suggest the op does some independent research and pulls their finger out if they want to have any chance of completing the process of becoming a train driver!

I'm sure you're fully conversant with the use of the Internet, I would suggest you use that in your search.
