I given up trying to find a role in a trainee train driver seems impossible I've just this forum a few years ago and yet ain't no further foward.really wished I could get some help in trying to reach my dream

Thats the problem is relocation
What help are you looking for Tezza? Are you based within commuting distance from a depot? Have you applied for any advertised positions?
Unfortunately you have some serious competition. If you can't relocate then you are at a serious disadvantage to start with. There have been loads and loads of trainee positions advertised for in the last year alone with various different TOCs and FOCs. Have you made it past the application sift yet?

The best advice is can give from experience is not to apply to each and every TOC which happens to be recruiting. Pick either your local TOC or relocate to the area of the TOC/FOC you desire. Then apply for another role within that TOC and go from there. The experience will be golden and hopefully you'll find success! Sometimes you have to choose the company first and not the role.
Well the fact you say you've given up says a lot to be honest, If it's a dream and you give up do you really deserve to reach it? and is it really a dream if you are really willing to give up on it in the first place?.
The only way you will get this job is by putting the work in yourself, I've been on this forum a few years now and I've seen more than enough help offered on here to aid people in getting the job but the bottom line is people can only help you so much. A train driving job will NEVER drop in your lap, as someone said earlier you need to go after it yourself.
Come on red2005, let the OP reply to questions before you wade in with a beating.
He might have applied and been beaten down, fumbled the application or even got stuck on where to look - the point is we do not know.

I agree, but Red's post could actually be quite productive if it serves as the reminder that you need to fight some.
Problem is, when you focus on something too hard you do lose eventually lose clarity, so a bit of a shake up can help keep things sharp. In this case it might be to step back, rethink, but ultimately get back in the game.
Having doubts? Getting fed up? It's normal but you don't give up, even though there will always be nay-sayers who might say you shouldn't, or obstacles to overcome.
Harder the fight, the sweeter the victory and all that jazz.

Like Dakta said my post is actually meant as something more constructive than anything it certainly isn't a beating!
I just don't see how "give up" and "dream" can be in the same sentence, If you have a dream surely you fight for it no matter what the obstacles are? If you give up after a few bumps in the road it can't of been that much of a dream in the first place?.....that is the point I was trying to make.You may never get there despite not giving up but at least you will know you worked your backside off trying.
He should just keep going as very few people get in first time and there are many frustrations but looking at it from a managers perspective who would you employ? someone that gets to their goal no matter what is put in front of them? or someone who gives up because they are frustrated with the system?. Better still who deserves it more?someone who keeps going or someone that gives up?
It is certainly harsh but unfortunately It's a harsh reality! my post has nothing to do with judgement it is more out of frustration that someone can give up on a dream....If he has been beaten down or fumbled the application he is in exactly the right place here to correct that, That is exactly what i meant when i said that I've seen loads of help on here for people in all scenarios. Anyway won't the guy have more satisfaction from getting up and dusting himself off after the beatdowns and getting the job!? what satisfaction will he get from giving up?
and the chap has already said by the way that reocation is the issue, unfortunately that is a big issue as very few toc's now will take that over someone who doesn't have to relocate. That said he's is the Midlands and there have been stacks of trainee jobs there over the past 5 years or so with LM and even chiltern. Either way if his location is an issue what is he willing to do to change that?
Not a beating by any means! i really hope the guy lands a driving job......just has to be aware that driver managers will sniff out a defeatist attitude that's all.

Oh dear, surely you could have typed into Google Arriva Trains Wales recruitment. Or even checked the forum:roll::roll::roll: As a driver you will need to use your own initiative so get practicing.
