Afternoon all,

Got an email (finally) putting me through to the online assessment. Being a qualified driver, I asked them I still needed to do the online assessment, which they said yes to.

I'm going to struggle getting to a PC with a mouse - can anybody who has completed the online assessment advise if it's doable to complete the practice and official test on a tablet? If not I think it's going to be a trip down to the local library!

Right folks I got another email last last with an assessment so I have gone and done it. It was totally different to the one I did yesterday. It was 5 rounds of 5 questions. First round I had 9 secs to do each question, 8 sec for the next etc down to 5 secs on the last round. Is this the correct test?

Hi, did you email SHL about this second test or did it automatically come through after your first test? i have been given the same test you took, 19mins and 2mins? Also for those still holding out, hang in there, my emails were posted yesterday, AND i received a dear john letter with my discount, followed 15minutes later with an apology, the acceptance speech and SHL email link etc

never mind, just logged in and took checking test, not the 19min test that previously came up, good luck all (after me), you will be pleased to know i got a little bit trigger happy on test and definitely clicked a few i shouldn't have not including the timed out ones

Well, reading through some of the more recent posts, this seems like a complete shambles now! Contradictory emails flying around.

I took the checking test on 27th October and heard nothing since. Has anyone who completed the checking test actually heard anything further from VTEC?

maybe VTEC waiting for all the results to come in, i know 6(six) people who still haven't heard back yet with a yes or no online assessment invite

This is true, they told me not to complete the 2 assessments emails they had sent me about 2 days after I'd completed them.

Maybe the HR team are all in different rooms, in the dark, talking different languages via bean tins n string?

It would explain much ;)

I tried taking the test but it kept freezing then jumping to the next question so I exited after a couple of questions on both attempts. On the last one a pop up box made it clear if I exited that I would have to get someone to authorise the test to be reset. It either wasn't registering my mouse clicks or the screen was hanging then suddenly refreshing which was really hard to work with.

I emailed Virgin who told me to contact SHL and I've emailed Virgin back with a reference number from SHL but since then I've not heard a thing from Virgin. I'm hoping they're looking into it as the guy at SHL said it appeared like an internet problem but because I'd exited it twice, my test was showing as completed. I kind of understand its a measure to stop folk cheating but at the same time, there's no way I could take it running like it was as I wouldn't have stood a fair chance.

Hopefully Virgin will get some kind of feedback from SHL that backs up what I've said such as the fact I abandoned the tests no later than 3 questions or if my last attempt was scored, that there was the first 3 questions answered and the last 22 skipped. I hope they let me do it again because I'd be annoyed if an IT problem stopped me in my tracks as opposed to me taking the test and not being up to the mark.

At least if I'd taken it and failed I could accept that.

Anyway good luck to everyone taking it and hope it runs as it should for you.

I think you're describing how the test is supposed to run; a random set of letters and digits displayed for approximately 7 seconds, and a selection on the right of the screen to choose from. If you're too slow, it times out and skips to the next selection. It's a time pressured test.

Just completed the on-line assessment, nothing like the practice tests to be fair...

Glad there out the way, heart was racing throughout. No idea how I did, managed to select an answer for everyone but after a while the answers blurred together!

Has anyone had a response of a pass or fail for the online test?

Hi there.

I'd done the practice test beforehand and it ran like clockwork. You clicked your answer and it went straight to the next question or if you'd not clicked, it moved on when the time had elapsed.

When I went on to do the actual assessment, it was definitely not working properly. I'd click and nothing would happen then it would jump to the next question and I swear on the last attempt while still in the first group of 5 questions, the time I had was not as much as it should have been. I think I got 4 seconds instead of whatever it was supposed to be. Maybe my screen froze or something. I wish I knew what it was.
