Hi, was wondering if anyone could let me know if the Trainee Train Driver salary remains the same throughout the duration of training, or if it increases after successful completion of assessments?
If it does increase, after how long roughly would the first assessments be?
Thanks for any information on this.

if your worried about budgeting then id just look at the worst case scenario which ive seen as being around £18k (which I don't think is bad for a training wage) but I don't think it will be any more than around £22k

Depends on the TOC

Totally correct ( as usual )

This is my understanding, but happy to be corrected .
Southeastern is around £24500 I believe , rising as soon as you are passed in Rules , to around £28000, then again when you are fully qualified to low
£ 30's but will not reach full driver grade salary until you have completed a full year of driving .

GTR is around £2600 but will not increase until you are fully qualified, but will then go straight to full pay.

Obviously whether you think the training salary is good or bad is totally down to individual circumstances, If it wont cover your monthly commitments then some serious budgeting will need to take place !

Northern training pay is 17k for 12 months or until qualified. Then rising to 38k. Then a couple of years till you reach full salary.

Thanks for the info. It's with GWR.
I just wanted to know as I haven't received the contract yet and have heard varying things regarding training salary.
I do know it starts at around 26k though, just wasn't sure if it went up in increments throughout training.

is this subject something you can ask at a DMI as its quite important to know?

I should have asked at DMI, but I was just so nervous that all the questions I'd thought about I totally forgot to ask. Probably because I wasn't expecting to do both MMI and DMI together! In fact ended up doing DMI before MMI which made me even more nervous, thankfully though, I managed to get through them both.

EMT is around £26000 for 18 weeks then roughly £36000.

That's as a depot Driver. They don't take trainee mainline.

I believe when you eventually go mainline you start on around £40000 for one year and then it's around £50000.

West is 20882 ( training), 38105( one year or pass out , which ever comes first ) , 42 ish ( year 2 ) and then full salary
