Hello,

I had a medical 2 days ago and everything was ok except a medical condition (eating disorder) I had years ago. I don’t have any issues with it now but the doctor at the medical said they first would require a letter off my GP to confirm that. Has anyone had similar to this and should I be worried?

Also the GP said the request for this letter could take 4 weeks, I’m worried that this will make my medical expire or strike me off. I’m not due to start until mid January but they might give my space to someone else that has already passed their medical?

Thanks in advance for any help

I wouldn't worry at all about it. Just make sure you get the required information from your GP to them promptly and all will be OK. I would however push your GP for the letter to be delivered in a more timely manner, 4 weeks is ridiculous to get a letter written.

You will be absolutely fine my friend.

It’s good that you declared it as you’ll never have any come back in the future.

Bows your time to get proactive and chase both sides to get this resolved.

Book an appt with your doctor at the earliest convenience, this will give them the opportunity to go through the form with you and see that you’re currently in good health.

As soon as this is done, get chasing the OH doctor to confirm they have received the further information and are happy with signing you fit for role.

I have had medical Issues requiring further information, it was a stressful time (my GP is effing useless).

Chin up and keep chasing.

Always best to declare anything that your GP might already have on record as if it comes out later on then they could could think you've been deliberately hiding things from them and they might even withdraw their offer.

Afternoon all. I am due a medical soon. I was under the impression you give your Gp details and they send over a copy of your medical records and job done or am I way off on this ???

Or you need to just say if you have a problem???

If you have nothing to disclose, then there’s nothing to worry about. They won’t even speak to your GP.

If you an existing or previous condition, you’re best booking an appt with your doctor for a day or so after the medical. This will allow you ti physically sit with your GP whilst they send the notes over to OH.
