Trainee train driver ATW tattoos?

Hi Guys,

Just applied for a trainee driver role with ATW and i was just curious as to there policy on tattoos? i currently have one on my hand which i have been in the process of removing for the last year.

i have just started taking practice tests and researching just in case i am lucky enough to get invited to the assessment centre but i don't want to waste time if i travel all the way up to Cardiff and i am told No because of the tattoo.

Not with ATW but I have 2 (non visible) My DMs have a very visible ones, various Drivers have them, the DM who interviewed me has them.

Never seen a problem tbh. I doubt that ATW have anything against them either.

I know a driver with GWR that is tattooed and pierced heavily and no problems there. As long as it's not face or neck tattoos I doubt they'll care.

If you're that worried about it, bandage it up and tell them you sprained it or something? To be honest though, it shouldn't make any difference as loads of people have tattoos on the railway.

I know loads of drivers who have tattoos but as said before if it bothers you try and cover it somehow, dont let it put you off by thinking of it too much and in turn muffing up your assessments if that's the case then definitely cover it up so you go with a clear mind.Good luck hope you get the job.
