Hi,

I have recently submitted an application for a Trainee Train Conductor role for Transport for Wales and I have been shortlisted. I have been invited to sit the SCAAT test. I was wondering if anyone could give me any tips or advice to successfully pass this?

How many questions do they usually involve? Do you have to obtain 100% on each question? I have a week to sit the test. Is there any resources to recommend?

I really want to pass and to hopefully go onto the next stage. I would appreciate any advice. Thank you.

I’ve just recently done my SCAAT.

You can get practice sheets on the opc website. £8.99 I think they were.

Don’t stress. Just do it in a quiet room on your own.

For me, I named the shapes in the head and repeated them as I was looking. This worked for me.

Did you find the SCAAT difficult? I’ve just looked into this, and I’m going to get the practice sheets.

Do you know how long the wait is to see if you’ve passed the SCAAT test? Also, following on from that, is there further tests then an interview?

Thank you ☺️

I felt the pressure but just cracked on. Finished it in about 30 mins I think. I found out the next day via email then got invited to a RAAT assessment. Again, online. Then after passing that I didn’t TCT test. I actually didn’t this evening.

I just finished mine, was unable to finish the entirety of each page, but felt it went moderately okay. I look forward to hearing the results, is the turn around quick?

Congratulations!
If you don't mind me asking, did your email actually say you are in the talent pool?

I was at Chester on Monday, I got one saying I have been successful in the tests, and will be progressed to the next stage of recruitment, not specifically that I'm in the pool so am a bit nervous what this means

Congrats! Can I ask what’s involved on the assessment day?

Is anyone who attended the assessment days on the 26th and 27th still waiting for an email back?

I’ve heard from others who have had both good and bad news but nothing for me so far :s wondered if anyone here was still waiting too?

I completed my TCT the day after it was emailed over to me. The closing date to complete the test was 28/2/2024. All other tests I had a confirmation of passing about 24 hours after the closing date. However this time I haven’t had any such email.

How long should I leave it before giving them an email asking if I’ve got through to the next stage? Cheers

There doesn't seem to be a set time for a response to these tests. If you feel there's been a lengthy wait, send recruitment an email asking for an update.

For those in the Talent pool in the North there are courses in April, June and August. I would think the April one is full now.
