So, I've just had a very nice chat with Rebecca from Nexus and I'm now here to give everyone the update we've all wanted :D

The medical is the FINAL STAGE!!! No DMI will be undertaken with Nexus, if you have passed the OPC stage and have a medical booked or are waiting for a phone call to book a medical, this is the final hurdle.

There is a course set to begin at the back end of November which is there or thereabouts full if those who have medicals booked, pass and accept the job offer. I assume the only issue some may have, is notice period for that date. The next course after that is due to start 16th January and it looks like this will be the one I go on, should I pass the medical as I can't do mine for another 4 weeks due to going offshore this Thursday for 3 weeks and then I'm on a course the week after unfortunately.

So, there you have it. For those of us who have passed the OPC stages, good luck with your medical and those who still have the 2nd OPC assessments to do, good luck and you also know that if you pass those, you then only have a medical to pass and no DMI.

Great to see so many success stories on here mind lads! I’m still hoping I might be joining you at some point I had an email back in August saying id passed the online assessments and I’d been invited to sit the group bourdon, Tea-occ and TRP1&2 tests - unfortunately I haven’t yet been in to do them and still don’t have a date. I was wondering how far through the process I actually am? If I was to pass this stage then what comes next? I’m really hoping I get my chance soon

So after you pass the Group Bourdon visit you come back and do the next section which is the bit on the document with the photos, the console tests to draw around a shape etc etc. You sit those first on the day, if you pass you can sit the MMI interview that day also. Then you wait for a reply. After the MMI the next stage is the medical.

Thanks mate - I’m eager to crack on and have been waiting since August for a date I’m really hoping that they’re going to take on another batch for the group bourdon soon!

Sat it today and found out straight away. Luckily there was a doctor on site who checked my ECG over. Was pretty nervous about it but everything was fine. In fact I would say I was more nervous than the assessments for some reason haha.

Oh fair does. There was no Dr for me on site so it had to be emailed off. I'll be patient and wait. :(


I was nervous for the medical, one of those things where you can practice for the tests but you can't revise for the medical :D

I feel in limbo tbh. Nothing to say I've "got the job" and I'm just waiting for a start date etc. Just waiting to be told about future intake. No idea if that's going to be next month or January etc or could I still be waiting 5 years.

I've passed everything and the medical but at this point I'm guessing the next step.

When I was there on Thursday I'm pretty sure there was some people that have just started

Yeah there are multiple intakes I think based on when you joined the process. Someone said earlier there's another group start October and another January. But I've had nothing to say I'm on those. I'm hoping that pretty soon I'll hear something with one of those as a start date.

As far as I’m aware there should be a group starting today (though I could be wrong) they would be the first cohort from this recruitment. the last lot from the 2019 recruitment are nearing the end of their training as we speak. I’d heard late November and then January for the next courses. But I will say that whilst whatever I’ve heard may not be completely correct.
good luck to those starting though, if you’ve passed all stages it’s just a waiting game but give it some time and I’m sure you’ll be cursing your Friday night late shift round the coast just like the rest of us.
