Yes I submitted both but surprised no email to confirm anything other wise. Yes I do currently work on the railways, yourself?
I too have yet to receive a reply for York. Must be a railway thing, I waited 10 weeks for a start date in my current "railway" job.

No I'm far from the railways but it's a very safety orientated job so I suppose that helps

Just booked my interview for York, and have to say, I'm buzzing. I have been told in the past I interview well, so I'm fairly hopeful of passing to the next stage. I don't have a railway background (my dad does) but have a few transferable skills. I live in Doncaster, about 50 mins from York.
Why on earth do they want a photo?! I'm trying to find a decent looking one of me where I'm not holding my daughter!
I gather this means I met the grade for the horrible second assessment! I was certain I'd failed on that one!

Where does it say they want a photo? It's only a telephone interview.

Go on the interview details page and underneath it says please upload your photo so we know who to look for on the day of the interview. Perhaps its a generic page for both phone and face to face interviews. Cant hurt to upload one though I suppose.

Oh yeah I am internal, the closing date was two weeks for internals.
I have just completed the second assessements. It was the same last year which I passed. Just hope I do again! haha.
How long was it before you heard after the second ones?

I would hope that TPE would give out negative replies, to be courteous and also to put minds to rest. I'm on the limit of what I would consider a reasonable distance from the station, but i'm curious about what part of the interview that I haven't been successful.

I'd suggest if you're like me and applied last year, re-done the tests this time around hang tight.

Whilst I agree not to hassle recruitment it is completely upto you but I doubt you will find a direct number for recruitment so ring customer services they will help you

Hey guys, just a quick question. I have applied for quite a few trainee drivers jobs with no success as they are obviously very popular roles. However can you pay to become a train driver yourself through a training company? Or is this training specifically for people who have been accepted into the role.
In short - no, you cant. Though many think this may be the road the whole thing goes down in the future, like becoming a pilot (Not a good thing, btw).
The furthest you can get is doing the pre-training assessments yourself (the ones at OPC, DBS and the like that TOCs send you on if you get as far as passing interview). The theory is that this gets you to the front of a queue, if you already have passed these they dont have to wait, find a slot, and send you themselves, thus saving them money ans time. How effective this is in reality, is debatable, as the TOCs have their own pass marks and some have extra tests anyway.
If you want to do this, contact Rail Operations Group, who are agents for tests done privately at OPC, or directly contact DBS who I believe have now opened up the tests to the private entries, in Doncaster.
