Aviation is the same sadly now. Guys will do almost anything, 100k worth of debt against parents home just to sit in the left hand seat of a shiny jet earning a fraction of what is has cost to get there. Where it will all end is another matter. We all know fine well there are people out there that would gladly pay a large sum of money to become a train driver.

There is another thread on here with someone who does not like the job - there is a huge difference of being a train driver and driving a train, I bet it is the same as flying a jet except the trolley dollies on planes always to me seem to be a lot fitter :)

Last Wednesday. I really quite enjoyed my trip to 'the smoke', and passed the testing to top it off. Not a bad day IMO!! LB

Congratulations LB!

So it's just over a week from stage 2 to get results. Will be very jumping the postie this time next week then.

They certainly are send applicants all over the country.

Good luck for next week.

Thanks! I wasn't expecting to hear for a few weeks so a letter with a Crewe post mark on my doorstep gave me a rather pleasant surprise this afternoon! All the best for part 2. In a weird way, it's quite an enjoyable process! LB

Well done to all those going to Leeds! Heartfelt commiserations otherwise.

Regarding the CBI for the training course question, how apt would it be to refer to academic qualifications such as degrees or HNCs, NVQs even? I have been on numerous computer courses but I am a little unsure of the relevance of these.

I remember that there was a post by Beveridges on the 21st of February 2013 stating that the criteria for this question is about conscientiously working to exceed course demands.

I would have thought with some courses, especially training ones, that there was only the scope to pass or fail. Little opportunity sometimes to meet this criteria of exceeding course demands.

As always, all answers are welcome.

This question is meant for any Further Educational course you have undertaken. HND's NVQ's and degrees all count as long as it was longer than 2 weeks and preferably you were successful.
I believe someone had mentioned that they spoke about their driving lessons in the CBI....
The training for a trainee train driver is a very long and intense process and they want to see that you could complete it by hearing your previous examples.

Good luck with the CBI. When are you in Watford ?

Think they just want to see you can stick to a course. I'm sure excelling and exceeding expectations look good when it comes to passing.

Thanks Marky82. By that reckoning, I should be spoilt for choice. I seem to remember another thread where someone mentioned driving lessons. I should be fine with this because I have actually completed an advanced driving course.

Thanks again Choo. I am there this Thursday. I am not quite sure if I am one of the very last. Got a few distinctions on my HNC in Computing so I should be in with a chance of excelling.

Mine was exactly 7 days from the test, so of you went on a Wednesday you'll get it on a Wednesday, they say 5-10 working days.

Hopefully it's just slow post.

If I were you, I'd be calling HR, because if others have got their results then they must have yours.

I'll be on the phone to them on Wednesday if I've not heard from them by then.

The other option is to call OPC, as they'll have your test results on their system now, so you'll know if you passed or failed.

I called HR as I am on holiday next week so didn't want to be away for the manager interview if I had passed. Turns out I did pass :). They have put on my file that I am on holiday next week so won't be having the interview then. Looks like I am going to be preparing for the interview on holiday lol.

Well done Fergie.

Did they say they'd posted your result out already ?

She said that they had just had some results in from last week but there was no mention of them having posted them. She said more people have passed stage 2 than expected so they are still unsure of dates etc.

I had decided to give it until Wednesday before I rang HR, & looking at fergies post, it does seem that there could still be a lot of posting out to do yet. Ringing up still won't change whether it's a pass or fail, but it'll put me out my misery……

I was there last tuesday, and the postie still hasn't got anything for me.

If you get someone else who can give you an answer tomorrow, please do let all of us know.

Anybody else from Monday or Tuesday stage 2 last week got anything in the post yet ?

Just doing my last bit of preparation for tomorrow (stage 2 testing in watford). A friend is down there today and two friends were there last week. All for different companies but still I think I'm one of the last to go in. Congratulations to those who've passed already. Any date on the interview in leeds? anyway fingers crossed for tomorrow can't wait to have it out the way.

Well just phone opc and they won't let you know your results. I've been waiting since the 10th so looks like bad news. Freightliner just keep passing you from pillar to post saying the person who is dealing with it isn't hear today, she will be in tomorrow. That's happened twice. I'm getting really frustrated now.

I'm surprised OPC won't give you the pass or fail result. It's information about you. No data protection expert, but I'm sure you're allowed to know

When did you call them BAcooke ?

I spoke to them yesterday and they said the person dealing with it was in on Friday. Perhaps they're getting inundated with calls so are fobbing people off because they're sick of checking.

I did mine this time last week. Still not got any post. The wait is killing me because without knowing I can't tell whether it's worth applying for other trainee driver vacancies.

Let's hope someone from freightliner HR reads this and helps put the rest of out of our agony.

I got the same when I rang the OPC a few weeks back with regards to my results with Northern. They advised that they couldn't give me the results and they would be passed to Northern who would be in touch.

I phoned them just now around 5:30, they said freightliner own the results as they are the ones paying opc and so can't release information. They said they will happily give feedback once you have your results from freightliner so I don't know if it's worth phoning them back and making out you've fail and see how that pans out. I also spoke to freightliner yesterday and they said the person will be there today. Opc did mention the persons name dealing with it all (Julia) but that's it. I know how you feel it's been 2 weeks for me, that why I think it's bad new. Though all interviews or people that have pass is up north I'm down south so I don't know if there's some divide.

I had my stage 2 in Watford on Friday the 13th (tell me about it!).
Took 7 days to get my results back and am consequently heading up to Leeds for the managers interview tomorrow morning (25th).
I'm surprised how long some of you have had to wait.... Hope it's not much longer for you all and it's a positive result.

You aren't the last

Welcome to the thread, which I must say has been most interesting.

Are you listed for the Friday or are you due in Watford next week?
