Trainee Drivers assessment day?

Need some information regarding the assessments if anyone on here is in the know lol.
I am lead to believe the Trainee train driver applicants will be sitting the new tests at Doncaster if successful in the interview stage. That means no mechanical comprehension, is this correct and if you have passed some tests previously, will the individual still be required to resit them?
Also with the MMI interview i hear they look for key words in your answer, so what do they look for in your MMI answers and what questions do they ask, would be grateful if anyone had some information.

Nick, there is a wealth of information here on this forum, you are almost asking for the answers to the interview questions. What company are you going for as most companies vary on their assessment processes. I do frown on people trying to get all the information required to pass interview but hey don't blame you for trying!

Well I am not asking for the answers, as there is some conflicting info I have found regarding the MMI, as a lot of individuals seem to fail on this. With a lot of things it pays dividends to do research and prepare to the best of ones ability. Thanks anyway.

I would imagine some individuals fail on the MMI by maybe not being prepared but I would estimate most fail the MMI due to not having the required 'evidence' from previous experience, as if you don't have the experience it's irrelevant whether you were prepared.

I would suggest that they're not looking for key words but are evaluating your experience as a whole. The interviewers are very experienced and I feel that when I went through it (albeit the 'structured interview as it was called then) they would have seen a made up answer a mile off. Did knowing the questions areas before help - yes, it helped me to think up where I might go with my responses though the other people there didn't seem to know what to expect and got on just fine.

Anyway, do a search on here under "structured interview" all the questions are listed - think there were 5 or 6. Good luck!

Fingers crossed serving in the Armed Forces has given me the relevant experience necessary to make it through, I have researched the main questions the '' 5 or 6'' and I do believe I have the evidence to call upon.

Lots of people being taken on who are ex-services. That can only be a good sign in your shoes!

Hello... Going to the same assessments in Doncaster. I've already passed all the old tests with LM before the tests changed and I'm wondering about part of the question that wasn't answered above. Are they going to make us take all the tests, or will they see that we've already passed the memory, group bourdon, etc test and just make us do the ones that have changed?

My only advice, from passing the old style and from talking with people who have passed the new....... Its about your abilty and your mentality rather than a actual test. You can either do it or not. Try and test your mind, keep it running, so do work searches, play some FPS games on the ps3/xbox. As for the interview, make sure you have some good answers relevent to the questions being asked. As said there are plenty of examples on here what they could be.

Is all OPC in Doncaster now, or is it just for specific companies? I know two people who have a assesment in Doncaster but its for DBS and seeing that HQ is there it makes sense.

I emailed db few weeks back as I have valid passes in the old style test. I asked if I would be required to resit the whole process or if I could just do the test that I hadnt done previously.

The answer was basically that we require you to re sit the entire process again.

That's un-lucky Polar, I think the tests changed January time. I applied pre 2014 so was lucky enough to get in with what I had. I wish you luck! Was you applying for Acton?

I know its rather annoying having done all the test to have to do them all again as well as the new ones but what can you do we have to do what they want!
Just have to hope I can pass it all again although at least I dont feel as nervous this time round.
I dont really see the point in making me re do the mmi etc as im only gona give the same answers as last time but I suppose it depends on the interviewer how it goes.

Interviews have a high failure rate due to the amount of the applicants passing the core tests. Days gone by failure at interview was quite rare as on average only 1 in 10 would pass the psychometric tests

Very good point and explains why people now get stuck on the interview, where it used to be the GB!

But the GB still exists so why are people no longer stuck on this? On my assessment day the GB cleared out most of the candidates!

Because people are practicing day and night due to it being available electronically to pass it instead of a natural ability it is now no longer a good judge of someone's concentration levels and if practiced to the level that many candidates are practicing it now is an east test to pass..
