That's not too bad then, those talent pool sounded terrible. I've previously passed all assessments with MTR so I'm hoping (finger crossed) I'll just have the dmi waiting for me.

Reading some of the other posts on here there appears to be quite a wait for many people in terms of hearing back from HR especially at GTR. Even if successful many are left in 'talent pools' for possibly years before hearing back about medical and/or contracts. It seems like a overly long process regardless.

It is a long process, irrespective of what TOC you're applying for. The key is to get into the talent pool. From there you're part of a list to pluck from as and when required.

It's efficient for the business and means you're going to have a choice of folk when needed.

Your job is to just get on with your life until, as and when, you're called upon. It isn't easy, but nothing worthwhile is.

Just had an email explaining that the screening process will take much longer than normal(hinting at months).

Congratulations on getting through, I'm also in Croydon (2nd November if you're in the same day?). Would be handy to have a heads up.

Will imagine it was the same as the tram driver assessments I had to do, but more in depth. Hopefully no more reading an extract about the application of GLOP!:lol:

When did you apply for the role btw? Was surprised at the fast response in being shortlisted, considering I only applied on 16 September and had the confirmation email on 10 October.

You should receive a Driver's Pack at least a week prior to your assessment date with all the practice material that you'll need.
However, these guys do some great additional practice material (really helped me at least): https://www.how2become.com/careers/train-driver/

I strongly recommend practicing the Group Bourdon test as much as possible, as the accepted pass rate tends to be pretty high with most TOCs.

Good Luck!

Is that assessment for GTR/1100 Southern metro depot?
If so you are quite lucky!

Ref the training pay, I start with Southern shortly and the letter states £24,300 (rounded up a little). Not sure if it's different for TL etc though.

Good luck for those of you going through the tests, just practice and relax, don't try to rush them on the day.

Yeah TL is different, I start with GTR Monday and my contract states just under 26k for Training.

See you Monday then! I'm guessing we'll all be in the same place to start with at East Croydon.

My letter says I start with GTR company Induction at Kentish Town north London on Monday not East Croydon, may be different as your Southern.

Once you pass out as a qualified driver I believe, it may go up after rules or traction but I've got a feeling it doesn't
