Trainee driver assessment

Hi Guys
I have only just applied to become a trainee driver for Southeastern in December and i already have an assessment date for the 5th of Jan so not to much time to study.
I know there will be some great info already on here which i will work through but i was just wondering if anyone could recommend a decent book or website as there seems to be many options and i want to get the right one also has anyone recently had this test that could throw some tips or advice my way ?
I have had a look over the practice paper they have sent but would like to go in fully prepared.

I would recommend the Group Bourdon tool found on this very forum for practice for the infamous "dots" tests.

Also if you can find the toy Bop It! anywhere that's another good way of sharpening up your reactions

I would say the tests aren't designed to be learned, it's about assessing your ability to carry out monotonous tasks and your ability to learn new information, so personally my only advice is don't stress too much over them as that will only impact your performance.

The Group Bourdon tool is a must, I practiced the day before mine and I firmly believe that if I hadn't practiced it a few times I would have failed.

Other than that there isn't too much practice you can do, read through the information provided by the company you are applying to. All the tests on the day are explained very well and they don't start the actual tests until everyone has had a practice and understands what they have to do.

The best advice I would give is don't rush them. Yes they are testing you on speed but accuracy is just as important, I don't feel that I worked through any of the tests that quickly but made sure what I done was correct and I passed them all first time.

The tests are challenging but if you follow the instructions given, stay calm and focused you should be fine.

can anyone give some clues as to whats good, whats excellent and even what a fail is in the group bourden? I'm practicing it and my scores are improving but i still dont have a single clue if im near, at or above standard thanks

Constant similar 7+ lines throughout the 5 sheets with no omissions and mistakes and you'll pass no problem.

Ok, thank you, I'm on 9.5 lines at the minute with 1-2 mistakes. So nearly there. Think I'll slow down a tad. Thanks again.

Come on you have been around here for quite a while, no mistakes or omissions with a steady pace, the pass or enhanced pass is a flexible result all depending on the quality of the candidates. Work on accuracy and consistency and not speed

You need to remember the consistency bit, it's no good 11 lines on the first 2 pages and then 9 and 7 and 6 it has to be either the same of better in the later sheets

Haha, I haven't touched the GB test in years to be fair! And I've only had one go so I don't think I'm doing too bad. But I'll buck up and iron out those mistakes, I promise. [emoji6]
