Whenever I have received a call from them it has always come up as an 01904 York number. Never withheld. Hoping to hear something myself soon, although last time it was a number of weeks before I heard. HR are stretched with everything going on at the minute. I phoned 2 weeks ago and they were waiting to hear from above about course bookings etc. and as always, they were friendly and professional to talk to. Sit tight mate, the call will come. (as I keep telling myself!)

Were your assessments for the positions at the beginning of this thread (Liverpool and Wigan) or another application?

I applied for this and my status still says new application submitted as do many others I believe.

Conductor talent pool moves quite faster than drivers. Next guards course on west side starts in January anyway.

Good luck

Unfortunately not any more, moved to February.
DTM interviews (re-interviews) are, I think, booked for the week starting on 12th of January.

Yeah my email mentioned I haven't been allocated a place on the Jan course. Sitting tight a lot more comfortable now but still have itchy feet! Thanks

Hi guys.

Sorry to bump an old thread but it seems the most appropriate. A friend has a conductor assessment next week and I was just wondering about the concentration test. I believe it is usually the SCAAT test from what I read here but is it usually done on the computer or paper? And is it the one in the practice material (upper case/lower case),the symbol version or the dots?
Also, is there any sort of technique to doing the verbal test, other than reading the passage, then the questions and then going back to the passage? I had a look myself and it seemed easier to skip the passage altogether and just read each question and go back to try to find the relevant section in the passage.

Thanks for any advice.

SCAAT is symbols, Group Bourdon is dots. IMO the comprehension type questions are best answered by reading the question and then finding the answer in the passage but everyone will have their own ways.

Thanks for that. The concentration test examples in the practice papers are the same format as the symbols, but it is letters instead of symbols. On the first page you have to find all the upper case 'D's and on the last page you have to find all the upper case 'V's and lower case 'u's.

Are they both versions of SCAAT?

Sorry to hijack the thread, I've my assessment next week. I've gone through the practice materials tonight.... A couple of questions
Does anyone know where I can download more practice material?
Is the Northern test dots, shapes, or upper/lower case letters?

It was shapes when I did it a year and a half ago so I should imagine it will still be the same.

Regarding the practice material, just keep using the material they give you, it helped me prepare for the test easily enough.

One tip of advice for the test where you pick answers from a paragraph, don't spend your time reading through the paragraph for every question your asked, just look at the questions your being asked one at a time and pick the answer out.

Otherwise you'll be reading the same paragraph again and again wasting time, if.you find any questions hard in any of the tests just move on to the next one and come back to it later.

It's better answering more that you know the answer to rather than struggling on one answer for ages that you don't know.

Good luck
