Incase anyone is interested, I was on the 15:37 ex-PWL and at Tywyn it pulled into P2 and we were told to transfer onto the incoming northbound train (on P1) which would allow us to continue our journey to MCN. This swappage was done because the northbound unit had developed a fault en-route and was going back to depot. Luckily it was still conveying passengers.
Confusion reined for passengers already on P2 at Tywyn when we pulled in because they were expecting their northbound service! But as it turned out, this was going to be their service.
The 18:10 connection at MCN to BHI waited for us as we were delayed leaving Tywyn after being transferred over. Not good news for the 18:01 to AYW pax as this got cancelled in the trade-off
