My friend's daughter is booked to travel Penzance to Margate tomorrow.

She was going to drive, but her car failed on Monday and she booked the trains on Tuesday. Like everyone not knowing then that England's footballers would be in action tomorrow evening.

She is booked on the first train from Penzance to Paddington, then across to St Pancras for the Margate train.

Does anyone know the likelihood of her managing to get to her destination tomorrow?

The football might have some effect on staffing, particularly on a Sunday. So there might be some cancellations

Exactly what trains is she booked on, and what time does she have to be at Margate by? If it's all earlier in the day she should get there eventually even with cancellations; if it's *very* late on, it might get sticky.

Some cancellations for tomorrow will show up later on today (I think typically around 10pm), so rechecking with GWR and Southeastern's website in an hour or so might be helpful. And checking again first thing tomorrow.

Edit: GWR are warning of cancellations.

First train to London from Penzance on a Sunday is the 0815 which gets into Paddington for 1321. Should then be enough time to get across to St. Pancras for the 1420 to Margate (arriving 1556) and that's my no means the last onward connection. Hopefully, all will be running o.k.

I would say that she's got a much higher chance of getting to Margate in time for dinner than I have of my supermarket shopping turning up at all tomorrow night, fully expecting a glib operational difficulties type message being sent around mid-afternoon and my slot changed to a lightly inconvenient time on Monday

Check again after 2200 would be worth it but:
Assuming one of the early trains 0815 Padd/0847 Bristol/0918 Padd runs she is well on her way and there are umpteen alternative routes east of Exeter.

Southeastern have no general warning out, but be aware (if there is a problem affecting both routes out of St Pancras) that Victoria (E) is closed with trains using Cannon St/London Br.

I wouldn't be over-concerned (whereas if I were using LNR/NT.....)

Thanks for all your replies, which were reassuring. I'll text her mother tomorrow a.m. as I don't have her daughter's number.

the 0815 ran, but the 0939 and 0947 expresses are cancelled... let's hope she went for the early train.
