Train Timetable Software

Are they any types of Train Timetabling Software available to download? I have made my own little versions of timetables MS Office. But i was just wondering if there was a program actually made for Train Timetabling anywhere that i could use?

You won't get hold of TPS which we use at NR or Voyager Plan which the TOCs use without a lot of cash.....

I'd stick with MS Office if I were you - probably end up with less conflicts that way .

A really silly question:

Why do TOC's and NR use different timetabling software systems? Wouldn't that make it more difficult to communicate?

No because they all dump out CIF files which they all can/should read. Voyager Plan is getting a bit long in the tooth but it and Trainplan (which we used to use and Protim before that) is considered by many to be better at the job.

Not a silly question at all

The TOC software also links to the diagramming software for producing stock and traincrew diagrams, which then feeds on to other systems. The NR software is just interested in producing schedules.
