Train stuck in Southport

Does anyone know what's happened to the train that's stuck in Southport going to Bolton ?

It was supposed to leave twenty minutes ago.

Needless to say Northern Rail and NRE are about as much use as a turd in a teacup for information.

1735 Northern departure from Southport for Bolton? Departed 22 minutes down. Looks like you might be due some 'Delay Repay'. Not much, but every little helps, as one supermarket likes to say!

P.S. Think that previous workings of this very same train has been shuttling between Bolton and Southport and back to Bolton this afternoon, with various minor delays accumulating on each run.

I think that there was a gradual build up of delay through the day. There was just a 5 minute turn around time at Southport for these Southport to Bolton shuttles, so when one started running late, its diagram just got later and later.
