Hey there

Just wondering is it possible to get on to the international platforms at st pancras. Do you have to inform staff?

Hi access to platforms is for ticket holders (and staff) only after they have passed through security.

There are quite good views of the platforms from the public concourse, not probably not that suitable for spotting and you can only see one end of the Eurostar’s.

Normally if you ask the EMT or Southeastern Gateline staff they should be happy to let you through to spot, take photos etc. Eurostar platforms are completely off limits.

When I’ve tried to take photos of Eurostar trains other than my own, security have been most unfriendly. You might be better of spotting them at Stratford International

Yeah, Stratford International might be better. They might try getting you to buy a platform ticket, but I think its pretty reasonable, can't remember how much they cost now.

You'll have to be pretty alert to read the numbers though!

asking to be allowed on the International platforms at St Pancras to spot would be roughly equivalent to asking at airport to be allowed out airside

Edit: if the platform staff/security are amenable, I'd have thought the outer end of Southeastern platforms 11/12 would be the best view? Beyond the ends of the International platforms, so you'll see EMT arrivals/departures too.

Or Ebbsfleet if you want to hear the traction of them arriving and taking off. A TMST kicks up an incredible sound departing when it wants to.

No it is is not possible to access the international platforms. I suggest and strongly recommend that you go to Ashford instead as you can see the Eurostars arrive and depart opposite the domestic platforms
