Train skipping a station for a week

Apologies if this is in the wrong place, but please can someone explain why Northern have 1C59 2200 Manchester Airport to Barrow-in-Furness not stopping at Preston this week?

RTT has it stopping as normal but Northern have it missing.

Is it not an operational stop? RTT does not have it down for a passenger call.

Not this week. It's a VAR (Variant) schedule. Normal WTT (Working Timetable) has it stopping at other days according to Realtimetrains

Barrow supporters travelling to AFC Fylde (Kirkham) by train for the televised National League match tomorrow (Monday) evening only seem to have found out today that their planned return journey will not be possible - this is the last train from Preston to Barrow. Barrow AFC and Barrow Police have been publicising the issue today. When contacted by the club, Northern confirmed the non-stop at Preston but were unable to give a reason.

Always a possibility, after all Network Rail managed to keep Arsenal fans off the rails by closing Euston for the weekend. :roll:

In fact Northern have now confirmed to Barrow AFC that the last train from Manchester to Barrow will call at Preston, which is good news - though adding to the growing impression in Furness and beyond that Northern would have difficulty running trains in a Hornby shop...

Northern have confirmed to me this is an error and the train will be calling as booked.

What a load of waffle, engineering works are planned months in advance before the Arsenal game dates had even been decided. It is not the railways responsibility to go pandering to the FA (or whoever decides the game dates) to see what games are when.
