Shaven head with glasses, the first one called in for interview. Fantastic beard didn't make it, he told me he hadn't even read the accompanying notes and format for what to expect at AC2.

After you pass your medical you'll get a Uniform "fitting" and collection date (the fitting is just you trying on some different sizes and then saying what size you are) and you should hopefully meet a few of your other starters on that day

By the way make sure you take a medium-large case, as there are plenty of clothes for you, including three different coats/jackets!

It'll be on a different day, after your medical, but in the same day as your contact signing.
Make sure you know all your sizes in inches too and try everything on before you leave

Had my medical yesterday, and have already been given a contract signing and uniform fitting date in July. I think it's just the drugs and alcohol results pending.
I haven't heard any mention of references, are these sought by TFL?

They'll usually be done by Sterling Backcheck when you filled out the forms online

Nothing to worry about.

First day is company induction, then you'll meet your trainer, get your Oyster card and meet your classmates.

Second day you'll start basic training.

Wednesday is normally spent up Edgeware/Golders Green doing track stuff (crossing live track, ice scraping, laying SCDs) and also climbing in and out of a train from the front and side cab doors.

Thursday you'll be sent to your line and learn some basic things about the line.

Friday you'll have a cab day out with an Instructor Operator, sat at the front observing what they do and maybe even doing a bit of driving yourself.

Then the two weeks after that will be at Ashfield House doing rules and procedures. (Learning the rule book)

To be frank, don't worry about assessments. You have some on day 2 but it's very basic stuff. Nothing in the challenging situations booklet is covered. Most of the other stuff is just background reading.

Having said all that it's certainly worth reading the background info on the train stuff. Will help you out a bit.

Let us know what line you're on!

As a word to anyone else who's in training. Draft wordings of the agreement for TO23s is almost finalised. Essentially sweat day will be the second half of a late shift until close of traffic or later if DTSM requires. After this (this is only on lines not due to start yet) TO23s will be relieving second half of late duties or first half of early duties on the relevant days (to keep up knowledge). Some will be night spares I understand. The wording is being finalised from what I gather but this is the gist of it.

Hi Chaps

Seems the week is going to pan out as you said, I have been put on the piccadilly line depot in Acton Town... Which is not bad in terms of location for me. Got track and fire test tomorrow... Got some reading to do. :D

At depots that already have night shifts then TO23s can also be used on these.

Note that the agreement only applies for Friday and Saturday nights between 20.30 and 08.29.
