Hi guys! So I've just got the email to invite me to do some physcometric tests on Monday for this position and if passed an assessment day soon after. Does anyone know what is involved with these tests and assessment days for this role? Thanks in advance!

I think emt do the scaat test, look it up on line, not that easy. Probably also some memory testing and maths tests too. Research the company and the role, take a ride on the trains.

The scaat test is instead of the group bourdon test isn't it? I'm guessing it's worth practising both. Thanks!

Speaking to a colleague who did the tests last week for Depot Driving (so may be slightly different for us), apparently the tests included:

• dots group bourdon
• telephone high/low test (new to me?)
• dials test (again, new to me?)
• comprehension test where you make notes then answer questions

Who knows what'll happen? I'm booked in for the Friday so will report back for you

The Train Manager tests are different to driving tests, so you won’t do any of those I believe.

You will do SCAAT though. (I know this from when I once went for a Senior Conductor role with EMT)
I believe there will also be a ticket checking/selling test. (If the tests are the same as a conductor’s)

Have you not had any practice material?

Just out of interest, it says that if we pass these tests we get through to a full day of assessments and interview. What sort of stuff can we expect there?

My friend is a Train Manager for East Midlands Trains and she said they did SCAAT concentration test which is searching for symbols on lines on a page and a rules acquisition test where you read some text with rules and then answer questions on what you have just read. This is followed by a group exercise and interview.

Thanks! I prefer the SCAAT to the Bourdon. Sounds like what I've done in the past when I joined my current TOC and previous role to that.

Use this to practice the SCAAT stuff (select the option once you've installed it at the bottom right as it auto selects Bourdon). Best of luck all.

Me too, just waiting for the practice materials to arrive via email. Last time I did a Conductor assessment I cocked up the dots(SCAAT)test so I will be mindful to do better this time around!!

Arrived at my end safely. Got 2 emails; one with practice material for the 2 tests and another acting as a travel pass to Derby via EMT services only (well, there's a shock hah).

Worth noting that the two assessment days are two separate locations. Friday is at Hudson House (next to station) where as Monday is at Prospect Place (15-20m walk from station).

Best of luck for those still yet to do their assessments. You'll need it. They did the rules test first which unfortunately I didn't score high enough to pass. You really need to remember keywords as the answers will be very similar to eachother and your mind will play games.

4 passages spread out over 2 A4 pages.

I'm gutted, but as it's a new test that EMT do only at the moment, I have hopes for the other TOCs.

Wow 9 pages! How many separate scaat tests are there? As in is it a page per test or more than that? How did you find the first test? Slightly concerned with having 2 a4 pages to read and answer on!

Hi you read two A4 pages of 6 paragraphs of info over 10 mins ..then have 12 mins to answer 30 questions about the info

Managed to pass both of the tests. The first test was hard and like you said there was A LOT of key points to remember. Got an assessment day Friday which is group and individual exercises and if you pass that then you stay for the afternoon for interviews. Excited but rather nervous to!

When were you contacted with the details of the assessment day?
