Wonder if anyone could tell me how manufacturers get on with copying liveries of train operators and other brands applied to rolling stock etc?
Assumed that companies are very protective about the copying of logos, intellectual rights etc ....do the manufacturers have to pay royalties etc?

Four main possibilities here:
1) The DLC manufacturer buys the license for payware and distributes it with permission.
2) The DLC is released as freeware and then seems to get away with it
3) The payware DLC is released in a livery with the brand logo missing, which is good enough for some simmers. The logo’s then may or may not be made available as a separate freeware download, thereby avoiding the need for licensing.
4) The loco is painted in a livery that resembles a real one, but that can be plausibly denied as resembling that complanies brand. E.g the Oovee Class 57 Railtour locomotive. Therefore doesn’t need licensing.
These are just my amateur observations from playing over the years, and open to correction.
