I was reading this month's issue of the Railway Magazine and noticed an advertisement for 'traingames.com' so I logged on to my computer and had a look. I saw a couple of their Youtube videos and think that the way it works with actual cab view footage is particularly impressive, even if the cab model isn't amazing. However, I have come to the conclusion that I would like to purchase the Cab View Sim of the Settle to Carlisle line, and to be truthful I am hoping that the video footage is good so I can get a decent 'drivers eye view' of the beautiful line.
Does anyone have any info or media of the Train Games Settle-Carlisle Sim?
Or any other 'traingames.com' productions for that matter.

Thanks very much.

Hello 150sprinter,

I would advise DVD routes if you are going to buy one. It is a lot smoother than the CD versions. The problem with non DVD ones it is stutters a lot if you don't match the speed of the train on the video, so it becomes very hard if you are approaching the station too slow as it will average 1-2 FPS, but as soon as you match the speed then end up going faster than the video, it will increase and put you off massively. The DVD versions will make it smoother if you are not matching the speed, but it will just be like a slow motion blur.

The sounds are ok, obviously it's not a program designed for high end smooth sounds. There is a couple of things that could be changed though for instance you will get penalty points if you don't use the horn when you should, and you get penalised if the cab is too cold!!

Other than that it is fun for a bit, but you might be addicted to I would suggest a DVD version first if anything.

Cheers,

James.
