My son is going to Fulda, Germany for a summer semester and is flying into the Frankfort Airport at 7:20 in the morning on Saturday, June 22. What's best train for him to take to Fulda. I understand that there are two types of trains that go that way.

There's an approx. hourly intercity service that leaves 08:11, 09:01, 10:11 on that morning. Book now on bahn.de and there are single fares for the hour long journey for €19.

Note that it's spelt Frankfurt, and when purchasing on bahn.de you should be search for "Frankfurt(Main)Flugh" as your departure point.

I should add that if booking online and printing the ticket, you will need to take the payment card for the ticket and show it to the conductor for the printout to be valid. The conductor will scan your ticket and swipe the card to validate it.

the 19€ ticket is an Advance for a specific train so you would need to leave enough time to allow for flight delays.

Alternatively pay full fare which is EUR27 (IC) or 34 (ICE).

Or start at the Regional station, take the local train to the Hauptbahnhof and then the Regional express (from the upstairs platforms if you arrive underground) to Fulda. This costs EUR14.20 but takes 1 3/4 hours.

Either way the tickets can be bought on the day, at the station, using a multi-lingual ticket machine or even the ticket office.
